Welcome to the second day of our Colors Anniversary Celebration you guys! This is Gargant here, gosh learning all the DW usernames is hard. If you're struggling like me, be sure to head over to the Colors Friending Meme that's running on the trade community right now. I'll be sure to post there later too!

But now to the relevant part of this post, hahaha. The theme of this discussion post is...

Keeping cards!

Oh dear, how vague. By keeping cards, I mean cards that you've decided to keep hold of even though you're not collecting that particular deck. Do you have any of these? If so, tell me about them! Why are you keeping them? Do you just really like that character? Or is it an incredibly pretty card? Or do you have some other reason? Let's hear it! For newer players, or those of you who just don't have keeping cards, are there any you'd like to have in the future? Tell us your future hopes! (Heck, if you don't have any and really don't ever want to, just come and talk about that some. No one is being excluded here!)

For participating in this discussion you can get one of two prizes! You can either:

select one choice card from a deck you currently have no cards for, or
three random cards

You'll also receive celebration02, of course! As with all the Anniversary events you gave until June 31st to answer this post. Have fun, guys!

Since I'm new I don't have keeping cards just yet but I think that I would keep a card from some special deck with my favourites characters. Or because I find it pretty. I won't really know until I find one.

That's always a good way to do it! And your icon suggest your an Eevee fan - you can always try to grab all the Eeveevolution cards from the Pokemon decks!

I just joined the game, so I currently have only three cards I'm keeping (the ones in my starting deck). I have 200-ish decks I want to complete, so there are a lot of cards I want to keep once I get them! I've seen some cards that are really pretty just in general even though I don't know the character. I think I might hold onto them if I ever get them randomly.

I'll be taking iyashikei05 and the celebration02, thank you! Time to get my second deck started.

I'm new but I know myself pretty well that if I think a card is please or reminds me of something interesting I'll want to hoard it for myself regardless if I was collecting the deck.

Who knows if I see that card often enough I might end up wanting to collect the deck too. It's an endless cycle.

It really is an endless cycle of cards, hahaha. But that's part of the fun, isn't it! I never want to run out of things to collect, haha :>

I usually collect decks I'm keeping, so my "keeping" pile is really just my "distant future" pile.

I do have a number of copies of cain03 and razorleaf17 that Raven won somewhere and gifted me because how did I not have a Snivy card. However, I don't have a keeping section at my post (even though I do have a section for all my cain03s...) and in most cases I wouldn't keep a card from a deck I'm not planning to eventually collect. In my early Colors days I tried to have a keeping section but it eventually became my far future section OTl

As prior mentioned, cain03 will always be relevant. And yeah, I suspect that once I've mastered enough decks and built up enough cards, some of my keeping decks will just transmogrify into collecting decks, hahaha.

I only start keeping cards after I had hit a 100 mark, and the cards I keep are usually decks I'm planning to collect soon on the very near future. So for now, I have no keeping cards...

I've just joined so short of the deck I am collecting, I don't currently have cards I want to keep. I did decide i'm going to keep any card I get for any character I've ever RPed if I get them, so that's going to be how I go about that :>

A lot of my collecting decks are actually just characters who I use to represent OCs.... :x SO I CAN RELATE TO THE KEEPING FOR RP REASONS STUFF

It'd seem like a bit of a waste to not complete anything that's not a special deck, and would probably go for most of those as whole decks, but! There is one exception.

I'm keeping him without a particular desire to collect the rest of the deck. Why? Just look at him. That's the face of a man who has found true bliss in his life, no longer bound by earthly worries. And even if cards don't have voices, his deep manly voice made an everlasting impact, as well. How could you resist this sight?

MAN, THE ENTIRE VENOSHOCK DECK IS ADORABLE AND FLAWLESS, but that truly is a gentleman among pokemon you have selected there that can not be disputed.

Lady Luck is one of those. I'll probably collect Fang's deck in the future, but I've loved Fang since the moment I saw her in the game, h-haha. I also hope I can get the Hair Clips deck, because all the cards seem really lovely. ♥

Fang does have a pretty great design so I can totally feel you on that one, hahaha \o

I definitely do. '-'b I sometimes really like the art of a particular card even though I don't know the series so I keep them. I also like certain colors so if I really like the border + art, I'll keep the card. ALSO SOME CARDS ARE FUNNY or sparkly and I just want to keep them too. Last but not least, I'll occasionally love a series and the characters but because I'm collecting fifty thousand decks, I just want to have that one card to represent that character/series. MOSTLY THOUGH, I LOVE BEAUTIFUL ART AND SPARKLES.

I'm keeping my Venoshock cards because they're awesome! And I'm keeping my Aeris card because I would eventually like to start collecting more of the FFVII decks. High Entia I'm keeping just because, whoever the character is, she looks super pretty.

Venoshock IS awesome, you are correct!! Glad you've already gained some keeping cards even so early into the game! \o\

I'm still a new player but I have a few cards on my "to keep" list. So far it's just Alibaba, Morgiana, Trucy, and Heiji. But the reason I'm keeping them is simply because I'm fond of the characters, and may want to collect their decks in the far, far future. If I run across any other character cards from a series I'm fond of, I'll likely keep them too, for the same reason.

I've only just started, but I have a Mercury card! I'm mostly holding onto it because Debs loves magical girls, and eventually, one day, I want to actively collect it! It's just a bit on the backburner atm

Aww, Mercury, she was totally my favourite growing up. I think Venus has usurped her now, alas! But ahh, you didn't tell me which prize you'd prefer! I've done tcgs before and a common trend for me with keeping cards was either I was fond of the characters and would likely collect their decks in the future or just for some random reason. Right now, Morgiana's deck is one I'm likely to collect in the future while I probably won't trade Venoshock11 unless I'm like one away from completing a deck because I just like Qwilfish a lot because stupid pufferfish pokemon...

Usually my keeping cards are cards from scrapbook decks with characters I like. Though I do have a couple from regular decks that I just thought were pretty. Normally I keep most of the images I donate to scrapbook decks cause I try to pick a character and image I know I'll like!

i try not to keep cards i'm not planning to collect! otherwise i'll want to collect too many things at once just because i'm fond of a few cards from the deck;; i do have a few "decks" though for mixed sets that i let myself keep that abide by certain themes (such as cute children or characters voiced by ogata megumi because i love her voice hngh) -- so, in a way, the themes also keep me focused!

I don't have much cards yet, so answering this is mostly guess work...

Right now I feel like I'm someday going to collect every character I know. I've watched only a handful of anime and my knowledge of manga or japanese games is not much better. So there's not too many character decks there, which I truly want. After that... I'm most likely going after characters I know but don't love. So if I get one of those as a random card, I'll try to keep it without intention of collecting it in the next 2 years. Does that count as a keeping card? :D

Maybe this is a better example: Some special decks include cards I might go after without any intention of collecting the whole deck. In those cases it is because I really like the character and want every card he/she's in. But if I don't know any of the other characters in the deck, I'm not going to bother collecting them all.
The new usagimimi deck is a good example. I'm going to claim Ruka Nogi, but I don't believe I'm ever going to complete this set. But I still want to have one cute card more.

I'm so glad I didn't have any cards from this deck yet...

YES. I tend to keep whatever cards I think are pretty; I usually don't know who that character is! Sometimes keeping means I'm not sure I'm collecting this yet, but just in case, too.

When I keep a card that I'm not collecting it's usually because I like the character, but not enough to go for a full mastery! And with special cards, most likely I just like the image a lot. For an example, I'm holding onto a Skyla card because 1. she's one of my favorite gym leaders and 2. I think her sprite is cute, but I'm not invested enough to collect every single one.

I'm pretty new, but for the moment I'm keeping cards that aren't a priority, but I'd theoretically want to collect in the future after I've mastered some of the decks I've got going. Generally so long as it's a character I have a particular fondness for, I'll keep it!

EDIT: Since I've found cards for all my collecting decks since I first posted this, I'll actually take three random cards instead!

Well, since I'm brand new, I don't have any "keeper" cards just yet. I do plan on grabbing some, though! I'm hoping to pick through the Pokemon ____-type special decks and gather up my team from when I played Soul Silver. I'll probably also explore the various scrapbooks and look for my favorite characters in them.
