Congrats to the winners of last round!
The object of the Pot of Gold is to complete different "tasks" that will be different every month. You'll get small rewards for completing them individually, but receive bonuses if you manage to complete all of them. How much of the rainbow can you complete?
Welcome to Seasoning City, a perfectly normal Japanese town... or so it seems. Murmurings of ghosts abound, and some of the kids around here are really strange... At least there seems to be a consultation office where you can go for help with any supernatural problems.
RULES
- Everything collected and turned in for these tasks must be done and logged in between Feb 1st and March 1st, 2017.
- When commenting here after completing a task, make sure you label your subject with "Completed", as well as the number of the task you finished. Also, make sure you let me know if you've completed all of them so I can give you your extra reward!
- Please give me a link to your logs with every comment you make. Also, make sure you link me all the stuff that I need to check.
- I will be able to pass out most of the prizes (excluding the grand prize) before the end of the month, so please tell me (with a note in your comment) if you want them earlier.
- Pot of Gold tasks can only be turned in when the round is open, so that means that after 11:59PM PST on March 1st (giving you an extra day because this is a SHORT MONTH), you can't turn in anything even if your tasks were completed and logged in Feb! Even if you were on hiatus. It's just like with normal games, you can't reply to them once the round closes. If you need to fix a link or clarify something after this time, please reply to your comment or PM me; do not edit your comment after the deadline!

Do talking, sapient robots count as alien beings? The Mega Man franchise, for example? I ask because they are in theory set on Earth, but not this Earth that we know!

I tried a game called Shinobi Nightmare! It's made by Fuji&Gumi games, same company that made Phantom of Kill (if anyone knows that game cries). The game's been around for a little while (note: not a super long time) and I kept on seeing it, and while playing Phantom of the Kill (they have a Madoka Magica collab event going on right now!!!), they did another collaboration (with its own game series) with Shinobi Nightmare and Daga Tame no Alchemist. Since I'm not so sure whether I'd like DagaTame, I went for Shinobi Nightmare instead!
(Update: I tried Daga Tame no Alchemist, and it's not as smooth for me as ShinobiNa is, and it's got systems much like the strategic/maps that Phantom of Kill is known for. All three games are turn based, but ShinobiNa isn't so map and space oriented like the two other games are, and are less constricting. It reflects the battle setting like Persona.)
It's interesting because I've seen some of the stuff FgG has posted for Shinobi Nightmare (and in addition to being relatively new (with the newest being Phantom of Kill English version) and I was not aware of the CAST. It's interesting, gamewise, and since right now the collaboration event is on, they're giving away a bunch of jewels for summoning special samurais, I've been sorta...binge playing haha. The game system is basically like most fighting/strategy games, it reminds me more of Persona. It's got a 4 different units you can equip for fighting, unlike most strategy RPGs, they have 4 different heroines you can choose from. Sound familiar? Kind of like norn9. But unlike Norn9, you can use the heroines interchangeably. So if one heroine's energy level is used up, you can drop her off at the hot springs and refill her energy while you're playing with another heroine! There are story quests, material quests, and event quests. The units are drawn by different artists like most card games, but the cutscenes are all done by the same studio. (Not to mention SO MANY CUT SCENES AND OPENING SEQUENCES!!! The animation is done really well ahhhhh.)
The storyline...I've been skipping a bunch of the cutscenes (whoops) but basically the four girls go to school and save people who are being attacked by the monsters. They are equipped (in story) with their own fighting spirit? (think Yoh from Shaman King) and they fight to protect civilians! I think Sakura, the main heroine, is dealing with some amnesia issues? There is also a fox that's similar to Touken Ranbu's mascot. Cutscenes are voiced! c: I haven't gotten too far in the story to find out the bigger plot and I'm not in the right mindset to try and understand the storyline on the main website because So. Much. Kanji.
Back to the cast! CAST IS UNBELIEVABLE BECAUSE HELP TORIUMI KOUSUKE VOICES ONE of the units and I'm crying tears. He voices Yukimura! Also, Akira Ishida voices Kojiro. They also have Hirakawa Daisuke voicing one of the units, I forgot which one BUT MAN HIS VOICE. The art is really really amazing and just so cute I wanna cry a little bit. Also Haoumaru is voiced by Miki Shinichiro SIGH.

update: The collab units are all GET with Zero, Chloe, and Ouroboros! c: I still can't seem to unlock the dagatame second mission part, and reading the help section has been of no help because I don't seem to have all the keys to unlock the second part ;;

I've been playing Fire Emblem Heroes this month. It's a decent enough mobile game, though I have no idea how it stacks up to the real games. I'm guessing they're all grid based tactics games? The biggest problem with it is the problem all freemium games: you have to pay for all the good characters. It really sucks when you're stuck with the weaker characters. :|

I'm watching Flip Flappers this month because 1) yuri, 2) magical girls, 3) I absolutely want to donate images for this series it's so pretty omg wow. So far it's not the best thing I've ever seen but it's visually interesting and extremely cute and a lot of fun. (I'm on ep 5 out of 13 and apparently the second half is when the plot kicks in.)

i watched fukigen na mononokean and it was beautiful. ; _ ; abeno is a really good role voiced by maeno - of course ashiya was good too, even though i'm not a big fan of kajiyan. strangely, i got used to his usual upbeat shounen voice this time. i still prefer kajiyan's deeper voice though- wait, somehow i made this about seiyuus again. ANYWAYS if you like youkai, check out fukigen na mononokean! granted, i haven't watched hoozuki no reitetsu but it may be similar to that from what i know of it.

I've just recently downloaded the mobile game Idolish7 - like this past Sunday. Admittedly, I haven't gotten all that far in it - mainly due to the fact that it's all in Japanese but the rhythm aspects of it have been pretty fun so far...even if I only have one song unlocked at the moment.

i tried yuri on ice this week! i dont think i like it as much as everyone else, but i like it more than i thought i would! the sidecharacters are all wonderful and i love the minami (i think that's his name)... im super interested in the ice skating tho i wish there was a little more of that in the show... otherwise its really good!! i feel like i should have watched it sooner hehe but im always last when it comes to these things

I've recently gotten into Ensemble Stars and it has renewed my interest in idols! Of course there's also a lot of eye candy to look at :3 And I'm interested in most of the characters like Mika, Rei, Kaoru, Hokuto, Wataru and Eichi. I am anticipating the upcoming Ensemble Stars anime that will air this year!

So I started watching Love Live! School Idol Project and I have to say I like it so far. It kind of reminds me of K-ON!! The art is pretty and the characters are so endearing (so similar to K-ON!! but I don't mind). I LOVE Maki's voice. Currently on episode 3....might finish it this week :)! And of course, already thinking of collecting some decks (Maki's, Honoka's, Umi's, Kotori's....just about EVERYBODYS')

Er...I forgot the manga that I've been wanting to read for the longest time. So, instead I decided to read Beauty Pop, because it's a manga that I've been wanting to read for years now.
My first impression of the manga is that: 1. it's a completed manga (so kudos for that) and 2. I love the main character's looks (I love the "I don't seem to care" attitude/expression). I've been reading Gakuen Alice, so Kiri reminds me a lot of Hotaru! The three guys kind of remind me of the usual guy groups in shoujo manga (like the F4 from Hana Yori Dango, minus the bullying, or perhaps Ouran High School Host Club).
I really enjoy the idea that Kiri is able to create "magic" for people by giving them wonderful haircuts. She's able to transform "ugly" people into really cute people. I'm only at the third volume, but I'm really enjoying the manga so far. I really like the characters and the storyline! I'm also kind of hoping that Kiri's father is the world's greatest hair stylist, since that's usually the way it goes, right?
Update: I finished the manga last night! I was a bit disappointed at the end (there needs to be more angst :X ). It just seemed to be too clean (if a bit random) of an ending. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really like the whole "so many years later" epilogues for most things. Other than that, it was pretty decent.

...I am reporting back! I was indeed correct in assuming this would be a good decision. Though sadly devoid of any depth of character in favor of frantic sit-com antics, the show is a good way to spend two minutes at a time! The cat animations and behavior are surprisingly realistic overall, especially for a show about a cat that is shaped like a beach ball.
I am now compiling a Kurobe deck. It could be called androphilia.

So, this is kind of a subseries, I feel? I've played Mario games before, but I've never touched any of the Mario Galaxies until this month! (There was a sale on Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. I am a sucker for sales.) Fairly standard Mario game, but it took me a while to get used to how Mario can (or can't) walk on the different planets - gravity is ~weird~ and sometimes gives me vertigo. Still - I enjoyed it enough that I ran back to the store to also pick up Super Mario Galaxy 2 before someone else made off with it. And I'm getting preeeeety close to 100% completion on the first game. WHICH WILL ACTUALLY BE THE FIRST WII GAME THAT I'VE COMPLETED 100%, MUCH TO MY SHAME.

Poyopoyo Kansatsu Nikki - If you like things that are a) round; b) cute; c) very pure, very good, then you should probably give this a go. The nice thing is it's available in manga / anime form, though having tried both I'd actually rec the anime over the manga in this case because there's cute noises! Good cute noises.
What is it about? There's really not much to it. Poyo is a round cat, Poyo has good cat friends and people friends, and surprisingly there is actually a VAGUE PLOT featuring the aforementioned friends. What I DO like is that Poyo the cat is a chivalrous round boy and it's sort of nice to see cats being portrayed as BRAVE and GOOD and PURE and very not asshole at all. I would be happy to watch more like this if such shows existed! Cute cats doing cute things, yay.

I started to read Happy! by Naoki Urasawa. I've read up to about chapter 80. It has an interesting story, but some of the characters are very... Annoying. I'm really sleepy and have the mental capacity of a turnip right now so I'm not capable of properly articulating my thoughts at the moment... I don't think I'll be continuing with the series because I don't find myself caring about any of the characters or what happens to them. :p I guess I just have no soul (jk I'm a ginger of course I have no soul)
