Advent Calendar, Day 7!

So, Colors, what are your thoughts on wish lists at the holidays? Do you make them and secretly email them to people? Do you swear off making lists of things you'd like to receive? What's the number one thing on your list this year?

This will be short and simple - reply with your thoughts, and take one choice card numbered 07. I'll also give you a random crayon!

This will end along with the other Advent Calendar activities.

(My apologies for the crappy banner; I'll remake it when I'm not feeling ill.)

I don't really make wishlists.... I don't have any problem with them, I just.. don't? I guess I do feel uncomfortable asking for stuff though, haha...

I also don't really make wishlists. @_@ I used to when I was younger, but I really don't anymore... Not that there would be much of a list, there is usually barely anything that I ever want for Christmas... Ahhh I have nothing else to add *awkwardly dances away*

I'm used to making lists for this kind of thing because my parents had us making lists for Santa early on, and it just continued on from there. As a teenager I remember giving her extensive lists with starred items, priorities, and where to find each item, lol.

These days not so much, though my parents will still ask for them, I think they're just used to being sure that they're getting stuff we want. I'd never send anyone a list or tell them "get me X" unless they were asking me to specifically tell them! Some folks want to be sure ahead of time that they're getting something exactly right, but tons of people like to find something themselves, and I'd hate to steal that joy.

I'll take toyboat07 :)

I use to make wish lists when I was a kid but have since stopped. Maybe it's because I realized that trying to get people to actually figure out what is on your list is rather hard. And secretly mailing it is kind of...Hmm. Well I do know the number one thing on my list is a new computer, but that'll be unlikely to happen...

I don't make lists bc nowadays the only thing I really, really want when the holidays come around are homemade cookies...

If I were asked to make one, though, I'd probably ask for a gift basket with nice food. We got one last year and it was the perfect food to have while waiting for the new year. But I don't really want anything else in particular, I guess? I mean, I'd like to have the new Pokemon game, but I know I wouldn't have time to play it, so I wouldn't ask for that.

I'll take spicegirl07, thanks!

I don't really make wishlists anymore either xD; But when I was younger, my parents would pester me for what I'd like as a gift (as opposed to surprising me with something I might not actually like anyways; I liked this idea better) so I would get to request one videogame a year. Now that I can buy my own games, there is considerably less self-constraint, haha. Between friends, we usually do a white elephant exchanges! That way there's no stress in finding the perfect gift for somebody, just something fun and quirky anybody would enjoy.

I haven't made a wishlist since I was a little kid, haha. My family is kind of bad at gifting, though; we're all hard to shop for so we might mention one thing we'd like to everyone, but usually my family just gets me a few little things and then I get a chunk of money. Money is really better for me right now anyway, since I want to get my loans paid down more than I want more fluffy stuff that's nice but I don't necessarily need.

And I'll take camazotz07, thank you! o/

I used to do that sort of thing, but not anymore! The only person who really gifts me stuff on Christmas is my father, and I'm usually allowed to order stuff online during late November-December to count as Christmas presents for myself. As long as I.. don't spend too much money...

.. I would also wish for the happiness of a certain good friend of mine, she's a very selfless person and thus usually ends up with a lot to do and not much time to relax. I hope she'll have a great Christmas this year, and be able to relax and smile a lot! :-) I know this wish isn't exactly one that anyone could grant for me, but.. the happiness of my friends just means a lot to me... (weeps)

I have an amazon wish list that my family knows about and I keep it updated! Other than that, I don't really make them! I'm laid back about getting and receiving things really haha. I like having them, though, especially from family members I don't know so well. Makes it considerably easier.

hahaha Um... I dont really have a list to be honest. I used to make them, but Since I don't ask for stuff during this time, i tend to not make them. Though, I have said something I would like is an English copy of Kingdom Heats 1.5 HD. I have the Japanese copy, but I like collecting multiple copies of games. Thats all I have at the moment. Really boring actually hahaha.

may I please have greenvale07?

Wishlists? What wishlist? Pfft. I'm too lazy to make an honest to goodness list for the holidays, okay? Also I'm never sure what I exactly want for Christmas so I never bothered to make one.

Although I did make an RP wishlist for my musebox but shhh it doesn't count...

I only make lists on my mother's command. For some reason, thinking of stuff is quite difficult beyond, like, socks. With this year's list, my mother gave it back to me as it wasn't 'exciting' enough. But I guess I make the list just to give her an idea of what to get in general and yet I don't really like making it too long even if it makes it easier for her. That's the only occasion of which I make a list.

I'll take destiny07, thank you!

I don't usually have a long wishlist, or sometimes not even a list at all. I usually have one or two things I want as gifts, but usually end up either getting them earlier or buying them myself.

This year there's... not really anything particular I want? Which is a bit of an odd feeling.

My parents normally ask for a wishlist around Christmas, on the one hand I always feel kind of bad asking for stuff but when you receive a gift from someone you really want to appreciate it, you know? I always feel so bad when someone gets me something I don't want since they went to the effort for something I'm never going to use.

I quite like surprises though, so when I was younger I used to make long lists and told them just to get one or two things so I knew it would be something I wanted but exactly what would be a mystery. These days I feel like I'm having trouble thinking of things, so lately I haven't been asking for as much.

Sometimes I wish they'd make lists for me since I never know what to buy them. Even though they say I don't need too, it's the least I could do.

Man, I've tried before, but if I want anything, I usually just buy it myself so other people don't need to spend that much money on me. It's like that for my birthday, too. 'What do you want?' 'How about you just make me [food I like]?'

At the same time, it'd be really convenient if other people had lists for me to get ideas from. |D I end up wondering, 'What should I get? Do they already have that?'

This year I actually had some idea of a thing I wanted, and asked my friend for headphones that wrap around the ear. I've wanted new ones for a while, so I'm excited!

I used to get really excited about making wishlists when I was a kid. Now, though, I feel like there's not much point. I don't really want that much stuff, and if there does happen to be a thing I want, I can just buy it myself because I am An Adult™. Besides, the only ones I could give a wishlist to are my parents and my boyfriend, and I'd feel bad making them buy a bunch of stuff I don't really want. So I guess tl;dr: I don't make wishlists because I don't want things. Except commissions. But those are hard to get other people to buy for you.

I'd like eccentric07 as my choice card, please!

I tend to just tell my parents what I'd like and let them decide what to get me. This year we've been a bit more organised - we've all got Wishlists from Amazon and we've swapped them all. I know I'm getting a games console I'd really like, and possibly a game for it, and I've used their wishlists to help me get something I know they'd like. Surprises are nice, but I'd prefer for them to know what they're getting and have it be something they really wanted and had to tell me about, than have a surprise that isn't that personal to what they'd like.

I love making lists. I do have a general wishlist, but it hasn't been updated in months/years (until now - thanks). Nobody really knows about my list, it's just something I like to keep around and look at once in a blue moon since most of the items on the list are ridiculously silly and not actual things people would want to give as gifts (duck handle umbrella, gummy bears - haha).

I usually make a list every Christmas purely because my family asks me to so they know what to buy when it comes time for Christmas Shopping, actually! And I also have my Steam wishlist that's.... slowly being dominated by visual novels as more of them come out on there that I'd like to read. |D

As a kid, I definitely made a lot of wishlists for my parents and brother. But as I've gotten older, I've started just asking for online/prepaid gift cards since I have an easier time finding things I want online (and also because asking my family to build up my anime/manga stuff was a nightmare for so many years, haha). I still do wishlists, but they're private ones more for my own sanity - I just add things to it when I find stuff I want and take them off once I decide to buy it.

I've never made wishlists before. When I was a kid, it was a case of "you're getting what I want to give you, be grateful", and that's how it's been. I've never minded it at all. I like being surprised at Christmas, and I've always been easygoing with possessions. It's nice to have them, and there's stuff I want, but I'm not going to be even the tiniest bit bothered if I never get to own 'em. So it all works out.

Going to go ahead and claim watchers07!
