COLORS CHAT #10

Slightly delayed because i was focused on getting the release out

It's time to sit back, relax, and pour yourself and ice cold glass of... milk. All these games are so great and fun but everyone needs a chance to just unwind and talk. So welcome to Colors Chat!

Here, you will get a topic and you can talk about it all you want. For cards, however, your initial post will need to be six sentences. Just listen to your heart and write what you feel like. For your six sentences, you'll get 5 cards. And you should always go around and talk to people, see if you can make new friends or old friends with new light on them or you know, just talk with everyone! It is a chat after all.

Today's topic:
Out of all the decks Colors has, which ones are your favorites? Would you collect a deck from a series you aren't into just because you like how it looks? Did you get into any new canons because you liked a deck from it?

To encourage disussions between players, there's a bonus - for every conversation that is at least 5 comments long with at least 5 sentences each, all participants will receive two random cards. This is not limited, so talk to as many people as you wish!

Please keep all comments civil and polite. You might disagree with someone, but please do not start a flame war. THANK YOU and enjoy your weeks!

This round closes on Sunday, March 23rd! CLOSED NOW!

I couldn't narrow it down to just one deck, but my favourites are Prodigy, Hoihoi, Spot, Mom, AHHH please stop me! I'm very biased when it comes to Colors deck in that I love Prince of Tennis decks. This is because my only other experience with TCGs was one on LJ called Twist Serve, which not only had character cards but pairing cards (Golden and Perfect pair <3 <3 <3). So I'm collecting a lot of their decks, and wondering if I should have made it a mass collection! Plus, on re-watching the whole anime recently, I've fallen in love with characters I didn't really like before, so I'm now collecting them, too! But I do have a habit of just looking at a deck and going, Ooo pretty, and deciding to collect it even though I have no idea who they are... (PSYqualia, Witness and Ring of Light decks, I'm looking at you...)

I don't know. I really like the Digimon decks, but I donated half of them (At least.). I also like the decks that integrate manga and anime art together well. It's nice to see how decks deal with a variety of art. I don't think I'd collect a deck that I didn't know the character for. I'm more likely to collect a special scrapbook deck even if I only know a few of the characters. Or maybe a special deck where I know no one, but I like the art.

I have to say, some of my favourite decks are the Megaman decks, for instance visualizer and netnavi. The official art for the series was already very nice, so putting them to card format somehow makes the whole deck very appealing. I also like Shining one because it's a very pretty shade of blue. I like blue things okay all blue things attract me...

Ignoring blue decks though, my favourites tend to be characters I'm familiar with and like very much. I don't think I would ever consider collecting a deck just because it's pretty; I already have way too many decks I want to collect! Maybe in the far future, when I've run out of things I want to collect (yeah right) I would consider it, but right now, no.

I have an obvious bias for the decks I donated, mostly the Baroque decks (burdened and malkuth :P), but in addition to that, I found that I quite enjoy the [K] Project decks too!
Although that might be obvious by my obsessive desire to CATCH THEM ALL- I really do think that they were made with a good balance in media (and they included the military versions! Yes! All the magazine covers/posters! YES!). But I guess choosing 11 decks isn't a really fair answer, so...hmm, I really liked the Silver Clan decks! They had so much variety in the posing and outfits, it was great~ And I have a burning desire and bias for Misakiiiiii and Totsuka so them too haaaaa

A deck that isn't one of my flaming biases of passion, but still shivers me timbers (and I think quite a few others, considering how hard it is to get this deck hahaaaa...), would definitely be the henshin deck! I suppose it gets extra points since the community contributed to it- But I think it was made extraordinarily well, and it has basically everyone I could dream of there. Also that mastery banner- B) Well done, well done-

Would I collect a deck because it was well done? Most likely not. Unless it's one of those really bad decisions at 3AM, then. Maybe. Yes. I have a tendency to collect things that make me laugh or look really derpy, even if I'm not in the fandom. It's all a very traumatic experience-

In summary, I'm just a very self-indulgent person that enjoys the things I've had a part in ahahahaha...

I actually...well...I sort of really don't care for Dangan Ronpa. Like, I watched the first couple of episodes of the anime with my uni's anime club but I just didn't care for it at all? And it's gotten me to the point where I sort of grumpily judge other people that like it, because I am a grumpy old person who likes to judge people. But...I sort of want to collect like, all the Dangan Ronpa decks somehow? I think it's because I REALLY like the art style from the video game. Something about the thick black lines, bright colors, and the way it's shaded just spell gorgeous to me *_* So I would totally collect those decks even though I don't care one fig about the series. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it tempts me into giving it another try.

Also generally speaking I really like decks that are mostly or completely made from manga images that have the black lines colorized. I like crisp, simple design a lot of the time, so those are very aesthetically pleasing to me, and if ever there is a day when I run out of decks to collect from shows I like (doubt that will happen, but WHO KNOWS), I'd probably move on to collecting those decks.

pale colours are my favourite, and blue is my absolute favourite - so putting those together, my favourite decks would be a combination of both! unfortunately none of the characters i'm currently collecting fit that criteria, so it's usually one or the other haha.

above deck colours though, i love decks that match - i used to be a deck maker and i loved to match images and numbers with other characters in their series. off the top of my head, it makes me really happy that the starish of utapri all have matching mastery badges, i just think it looks a lot nicer when they're put side-by-side on mastery pages! the same goes for when i'm collecting them too.

a recent example of the second question are the drakenguard decks... or zero, specifically! i don't care much about drakenguard (though i am planning to play it) but her deck is so pretty that i just have to collect it... (pale pink!! is too cute!!) as for getting into series through tcgs - it hasn't happened in colors yet (it has in others) but i'm sure it's just a matter of time haha.

AHAHAHAHAHA OMG PREPARE FOR AN ESSAY

I really, really, really like lolita!! It is easily the prettiest deck in the game, fight me. It kind of kindled my interest in Shiki. I have yet to watch it but I should fix that once I'm done with KlK tbh. I am also super fond of snowdrop because Kirakishou is fuckin gorgous okok and the green color actually works for her, and paradox because Hideyoshi has the cutest expressions ever I mean come on.

I am also biased because it's one I donated and she is one of my favorite characters but septette aka Remilia Scarlet's deck is also gorgeous u_u I super love how the bright red matches nicely fkghldshgdgh.

On the topic of canons ayup funny story, I started collecting some of the Strike Witches decks because it seemed like no one else wanted them and the art was fairly pretty, so, why not? After I mastered one though I started to get really curious as to what the series was actually like beyond the screenshots, so I ended up marathoning both tv series and the movie in a week or so. That is a huge feat for me, haha, since my attention span is terribad. I ACTUALLY ENDED UP LIKING IT A WHOLE LOT and Shirley is still my favorite, no surprise. I even bought both seasons I liked it so much, cries. $40 for pantsu witches on DVD and Blu-Ray...

Colors also interested me in the Zero Escape series tbh. One of the Graffiti rounds used it so I finally said fuck it and looked up a Let's Play and I've been dragged into a pit of despair, this series destroyed me. Other series I still need to get into thanks to Colors: Sengoku Otome, Hayate no Gotoku, Nichijou, and Kannagi!! uwu

tl;dr this game has made me into an even bigger fandom nerd

i really want to collect all the kokoro connect, haruhi suzumiya series, and angel beats! cards. i would probably collect decks based off what the character looks like and the mastery image as well, hehe... also since i get enabled pretty easily.

i haven't gotten enabled yet, but maybe in the future?

I really like the decks from Danganronpa even though I didn't really care for the anime. I think it's the art style that I really like that got me into the series in the first place. I also like the decks from Street Fighter because I like how the decks have pictures from the different generation of games. I'm collecting Hadouken and Shoryuuken and Ken and Ryu look different across the cards of the deck so you can tell it's not from the same 2 games or something. I'm also a fan of the Bonds deck because the images are from Ieyasu's youth in the anime to him being older in the games. I guess it's just the progression from one phase to another across the deck that I'm attracted to!

My favorite decks are Tennyo, Chopsticks, and Peddler because they're made so wonderfully and I'm extremely biased; I was the one who donated images for them, after all. My other favorites include characters who are my favorites, such as Galaxy and Zero because I love, love, love Sheryl and Lelouch, respectively.

I'm not the type of person who collects decks from series I'm not into because... what's the point? I have to really like something to look for their decks, and I don't care if the art is pretty or what-not, just no. Not even if I ran out of decks to collect, I'm not that desperate.

My favorite decks... this is a hard question! In general, I like decks that that seem to somehow have a "coherent" aesthetic when viewed as a whole. The deck color fits, there's a nice variety of images, etc. Sometimes I end up liking cards/decks for series I'm not familiar with just because of the color choices! I haven't ended up collecting any of those, but I like seeing them around. Another thing I like is when I feel like a deck accurately represents a character. For example, when there are images from recognizable important scenes and from various versions of canons (when applicable), rather than just promotional material.

TWISTSERVE. Oh my gosh, I still have my cardpost up, broken image links and all (/u\) <3 Pairing cards were real fun too (though, with the number of "pairings" out there, it would have gotten really cluttered really quick, haha) but here I'm just collecting everyone because I love everyone...! Colors is the third game I joined, but one thing I miss from the other games were puzzle decks-- Silver Pair faces plastered across my screen please ;D

Fuji's deck is so beautiful though. It's the blue that makes it for me <3

[personal profile] oriaon 2014-03-11 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
My favorite decks are the ones that I'm collecting ;D Also suggestive of some of my favorite characters, e.g. Pokemon (with my Ruby bias), Tenipuri (Shishido's deck <3 <3 <3), Furuba (I'm drawn to Hiro's for whatever reason; calm brown tones, prob), FMA (Kimblee's but his character freaks me out, I just like his face on the cards, hahaha), etc etc. I also love the special Pokemon decks by type, because of all the Pokemon represented and it really feels like catching them all! \o/

Ginko's deck from Mushishi is the most beautiful deck ever though. It's the calming jade green and my wind-down series and just look at card 19, ahh <3 uwu

ALSO YOTSUBA DECK-- YOTSUBA MAKES ME HAPPY <3 <3 <3

[personal profile] oriaon 2014-03-11 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Hehehe, Zero Escape is the best game <3 Let's Play won't do it justice, it's all about looking at EVERYTHING and talking to EVERYONE and doing doing ALL the puzzles MULTIPLE TIMES. My roommate lent me the game and for a week and a half I'm just laying on my stomach in bed with the covers drawn over my head poking at the 3DS until two in the morning, haha.

I remember watching Hayate no Gotoku but I can't remember if I ever finished. It was lovely crack though, from what I remember <3 So many series I want to see because of Colors, but no time, sob. Mostly I've been trying out the DS games that I can play here and there to de-stress though xD

but for the most part i have my hands full just bc of cads /o\ also colors is prob what finally kicked my butt into gear to play dmmd and :3 :3 :3 ahhhhhh /pleased chinhands n________n but more importantly colors reignited my love for some old series (like gunslinger girl) and that's also fun!

Ahhhhh I know, it was so amazing, and it really got me into playing TCGs! Before I joined Colors, I was looking for it again, hoping someone had restarted it, and found Colors in the process. :)

I loved it, and I was obsessed with getting Perfect and Golden pair! Puzzle decks were so good too. :O I think because I'm so picky with what anime I watch, but when I find one I like I obsess for ages and ages, it was cool to have one TCG that was centred around an anime I love. It also meant I knew most of the decks that were going up ^_^ Twist Serve was amazing. I think I'm just obsessed with Fuji in general, and Eiji. :3 But the colors of it are so pretty <3 Very happy it was the first deck I mastered.

Tenipuri fans are win :D <3

Me... I tend to search for series I know. Hence my KHR and KnB mass decks. Slowly coming there with PoT, but I'm not crazy enough to try to finish them all. /only really wants Rikkai and Hyoutei for pairings /shot

After I see characters I know and love, I tend to stare at the cards and go, "Oh! Pretty!" I end up collecting their deck. (*cough*Donmai*cough*)

If not that, I see a character I like/didn't hate from a series I used to like and go, "Maybe I should collect their deck." And then I end up with a long list of decks I like. /has started a long list thanks to that (*cough*Almost all my future decks*cough*)

If not that... well, I haven't reached that point yet, thank god.

[personal profile] oriaon 2014-03-11 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my gosh, you are the second person after the TCG closed that's asked me about Twist Serve restarting. Nostalgia and happiness all rolled up into one, haha! Kuro, Saz and I were actually trying to restart it (almost two years ago, wow) but we couldn't get enough interest and eventually dropped the project 'OTL It was one of the things that really got me into Prince of Tennis too-- before that, I didn't really know anyone else to talk about the series with, haha. Which is why I love Colors: all the series! \o/ Plus the decks here really live up to the name of Colors, so many beautiful cards and card posts ;D

Best <3

That is like the best way to decide which decks to collect. And yes, pretty art style.

I understand how you feel about that. I mean, I've seen series people obsess over, and go, "Meh." Then find something in it in a tcg, and go, "I want it, even if I don't like the series." And then I end up rewatching and joining the fandom. At least, most of the time.

[personal profile] oriaon 2014-03-11 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Prince of Tennis <3 <3 <3 Once upon a time I said to myself "I am only going to collect Hyoutei decks!" ...And then put down all of them because who am I kidding, I'm only delaying the inevitable :P I think rather than going to individual characters, I tend to do mass decks if only because it's easier on me to know what cards to look out for when I'm skimming trade piles xD

Haha, I do that with my future decks too, in my ~Miscellaneous~ pile xD They're all characters from other series that I watched long long ago but still like. Special place in my heart; they will never leave <3

Haha that's almost creepy! Saz and I went to school together, and it was her who introduced me to both the anime and Twist Serve! We used to watch it at her flat :) I would honestly have loved to see it get restarted, and it was only beginning of Feb, right before I joined Colors that I was looking at it. There was an old post asking for mod volunteers to help restart it but I had no clue how to do Mod things like deck making and banners and stuff :P but was desperate to rejoin it! Good times xD

I've been trying to focus on mastering some of my favorite decks first before I get a little deeper into mass-collecting. So, so far, of what I've collected, my favorites are curerouge, herbalist, ipc, kitsune, specialduty. Cure Rouge, because she was probably one of my first favorite Precure. Herbalist and Special Duty because they're my favorite Goddesses from OMG. IPC because that's no contest and Enzan is amazing~. And Kitsune because Renamon's my favorite mon of that season.

I'm finding some cards that I haven't seen the series/games of that look interesting enough to collect but it'll probably be awhile before I collect those, to be honest. I don't really watch a lot of modern anime so I don't always catch the newest shows as they air so it's probably good for everyone else that my trading pile is practically all the new cards anyways!

I think the Digimon decks are pretty fun and there's a ton of variety between them and say other creature decks. Plus, you can choose a human partner to collect and possibly collect their digital partner as well, so that's always a lot of fun. Too few tcgs only allow for the human partners, so it's a nice change honestly.

Yesss, another Megaman fan. Come to our side, we have Dark chips~

Netnavi looks amazing and I can't wait to collect it. I'm also hoping to donate a few other characters from this series as well and if I had another special coupon, Command Mission would get a special deck because... ohhh such pretty designs in that game. (Nothing wrong with blue things btw, blue things are super pretty.)

What characters would you want to collect from Megaman, btw?
