COLORS CHAT #3

again by the lovely Casey. hey look at me go i'm on time wow.

It's time to sit back, relax, and pour yourself and ice cold glass of... milk. All these games are so great and fun but everyone needs a chance to just unwind and talk. So welcome to Colors Chat!

Here, you will get a topic and you can talk about it all you want. For cards, however, your initial post will need to be six sentences. Just listen to your heart and write what you feel like. For your six sentences, you'll get 5 cards. And you should always go around and talk to people, see if you can make new friends or old friends with new light on them or you know, just talk with everyone! As a bonus everyone who talks with someone else will get 2 pieces of candy! Yay!

Today's topic:

What new animes are you hoping pop up? What kind of story line, setting, characters, and creatures would you like to see? Are there video games you hope will become animes some day?

Please keep all comments civil and polite. You might disagree with someone, but please do not start a flame war. THANK YOU and enjoy your Saturday!

I keep hoping that all these Atlus video games getting animes means that one day Digital Devil Saga will become a video game. I know it's not likely at this point but the dds story's just so tight I think it'd make an AMAZING two season anime. And it's so gorgeous and just can't you imagine it?? Alas that it probably won't happen.

Other than that, I don't have any super interests or specific ideas, except that the new sailor moon anime ACTUALLY comes out and stops pushing the deadline out. And that it's good because if it wasn't that'd be the ultimate let down at this point.

Iiiiiiiii have pretty much given up on anime. So this question is kind of unanswerable HAHA. I'm only watching one anime this season and it's only because it's 4 minutes long and a little entertaining. I'm more into LA stuff when it comes to media.

And I really don't play video games either so that's hard to answer too.

oh god i would conquer small villages for a DDS anime yes. Although part of me would be in paralyzed fear that what if they mess it up but if they didn't it would be so good i can't. words. flaaaaail.

And the thing is they literally could just stick to the plot of the games and they'd have a solid story that doesn't really need filler?? It'd be amazing.

I don't really watch much new anime these days! I got a little ways into Attack on Titan but then I just switched to the manga and never looked back. My attention span seems to go a lot better for things you read or things you play, versus things you watch. I think the last new anime I actually followed to completion as it aired was Hakuouki Reimeiroku, because I am contractually obligated to watch Hakuouki even when they continue to mess it all up forever. (Which they did, Reimeiroku was kind of a hot mess and really needed a longer season than they gave it, because you could see the point at which they went "oh crap we're gonna run out of space" and started flinging plot threads away at light speed...)

That said: in a magical fantasy world where I could be assured it would be good and worth watching, I would do many horrible, unspeakable things for a Samurai Warriors anime. Or anything in the Koei Warriors franchise, really, though Orochi kind of needs the buildup of having SW and DW done first otherwise people tuning in would be like "what the helllllll."

Actually, you know what needs an anime? Samurai Drive. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHO'D VOICE JIN, DON'T JUDGE ME.

is my samurai showing? i think my samurai is showing.

I don't really watch anime lately unless it really appeals to me from the getgo (like AKB0048 and Live Live), but Love Live has a second season confirmed so that's out of the way

Iiiiii really hope though that one day maybe they'll animate the AKB0048 Episode 0 manga, or even another spinoff like the Gaiden manga or Heart Gata Operation. I'd prefer the first two though- the Ep. 0 manga is concluding currently (either it finally ends in the December issue of Nakayoshi or it'll end in the January issue? it moved into endgame as of the November issue) and there's a lot that'd be pretty awesome to see animated, and the gaiden manga from what I've seen is pretty hilarious, like Azumanga Daioh if it had idols.

But that'll probably never happen, just like we'll never get a season 3 of the original anime no matter what the conspiracy theorists on the wikia say haha. With three of the members of NO NAME having graduated earlier in the year, they'd have to either replace them with someone else or make a prequel/far future sequel anime (like maybe animate the Most Serious Guy in the Universe manga? that has Acchan the 23rd).

More realistically, I'd like to see a Kazumi Magica or Oriko Magica anime c: We've gotten movies of the Madoka series, and even a psp game, so why not those? I remember hearing there's some more spinoff manga series as well, so I think a big Madoka-spinoff anime franchise would be awesome o/

Definitely! I mean, if you just watch the cutscenes without playing the story flows pretty well by itself - I acquired DDS2 before I got the first one, so I did this myself before I played it and before I could scrape up seventy dollars to throw at ebay (ah, the dark days of Atlus prices before the reprints...), and while I was itching to have a controller in my hands the whole time (I do not like LPs, I do not like them Sam I Am), I felt like I got a decent experience out of it. Then they could work in some of the better stuff you get from talking to people outside dungeons (I demand Community College Guy)...

i'm crying inside that this will never come to us.

It feels like a slightly less hopeless dream than Nocturne, at least. Nocturne would be so epic if done right but the keyword there is absolutely done right because the atmosphere is half of what makes Nocturne so amazingly good to begin with, so it'd take some careful doing to translate that.

I know it's never going to actually happen, but I would love a longer OVA series of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers games. The two specials that came out covering select scenes were FANTASTIC and I'd love to get more of it.

I'd really like for them to actually make the 2nd season for series like The Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok (I wanna see Spica animated! They only showed a little bit of her at the very, very end...) and tactics... ;^;

And also especially for 07-Ghost since the anime only included a very small part of the manga. They hinted at a 2nd season at the event they did soon after the anime ended then... it just kind of was forgotten...

I'd like to see more straight science fiction anime, sans giant robots or magic/superpowers*. Especially space-based SF.

* Not that these are not awesome things, but most space-based shows seem to have one or both.

I honestly don't watch a lot of anime anymore (mostly I read manga), because many of the shows coming out just don't grab me. There are exceptions! This past summer season, I watched Free, Prisma Ilya, and Yamishibai and really enjoyed all of them. But overall, I read more manga.

I do have two very specific dreams, though: 1) more seasons of Shounen Onmyouji. I MEAN COME ON. There's plenty left to animate! They've even done drama CDs for the Tenkouhen, so... 2) more seasons of Amatsuki. I am intensely, intensely glad that they left off where they did and just animated the first arc. Takayama hadn't revealed enough for there to be more at that time! But we've been slowly edging towards an ending for a while now, and I would love to see the flashback arcs animated and voice acted.

I almost never watch anime as it airs. The only series I've ever followed week to week and didn't lose interest in was To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S, which hardly counts, because I'm a Raildex nerd and it was a second season. I like being able to marathon things, I suppose. Weekly shows rarely interest me enough to keep me watching once a week for half a year. as for things I'd like to see, though...specifically, SEASON 3 OF TO ARU MAJUTSU NO INDEX, MY FAVORTIE NOVELS HAVEN'T BEEN ADAPTED YET GAHH!!! Less specifically, I'd like some more solid comedy anime that isn't a Cute Girls Doing Cute Things show in disguise.

I'm in the manga crowd more than anime in general, as a general disclaimer, but I have definite preferences. First of all, I'd love to see the rest of Amatsuki animated! It's a lot less likely than getting more Titans, especially since it's been years now, but I seeing my favorite scenes animated, and I would be so happy seeing Ginshu's backstory in anime form. Um… I'd say Tales of Innocence, but the manga and the remake make me kind of wary about how they'd handle certain things. But a Tales of Destiny: DC anime series? Especially with Chaltier animated? Yes, please.

…I guess that really kind of jumped ahead and did this backwards. In general, what I desperately want out of anime is the same as what I desperately want out of any media: casually queer/genderqueer/trans characters who have depth and importance and are treated with respect by the narrative. Preferably in sci-fi/fantasy.

ON THE DUB SIDE, I would really like to get Tales of the Abyss get an English dub! The English cast is one of my favorites. I also hope Bleach gets another season, too. I would also love to see a Catherine anime series, too. And then there's Persona 3 with the female protagonist. She's so cute and while I love the male protag, she's my favorite...! I think it would be kinda cool to have an Assassin's Creed anime, haha. Maybe that's just me, though. '_'

I'd really like to second seasons to a few I already really enjoyed.

Soredemo Machi Wa Mawatteiru is one I think of right off the bat. It was really funny and heartwarming in a few episodes...and just strange enough to be unique without being over the top. Nichijou is another one, but the sales didn't justify it, I've heard. iDOLM@STER is another series that I wish would get a sequel...the anime screwed up a few times but it was still a lot of fun. Also, Yotsuba&! would make a great anime. I know it will never happen, but. I can dream.

As for games I'd like to see made into anime? Rune Factory, maybe. It's hard, because it'd need to be a series that they can keep milking. Anime is a form of promotion, after all.

The Tales of the Abyss cast -is- fantastic. That would be great. I tried watching the anime and kind of succeeded, but I vastly prefer the English voices.

I mostly just watched the Natalia scenes because I'm a masochist who wants to cry

I used to follow a lot of anime, but eventually I realized pacing in manga worked better for my attention span, so I switched to manga and never looked back :c I think it's because I look for things like really detailed world-building and complex, layered plots, and that's often hard to emphasize in an anime. On the other hand, I find that anime adapted from other mediums (when done well!) really catches my attention, mostly because since it's adapted from another medium, there's this rich backdrop, world-building and back-story to draw from. Even if the anime can't showcase all the little details that go behind a story, just the fact that it's there makes a story richer, in my opinion c:

Recently, I've been following Kyoukai no Kanata! The characters, in particular, are very interesting. c: And someone got me into LOLHEROES, so I've been slowly going through the light novel translations for that, haha, but that's not anime is it. >A> I like things that I can chew on... I guess it's not a video game, but if they animated Ciel: The Last Autumn story, that'd make me happy. And they should certainly animate more of the Tales Of franchise. That'd make me happy too.

... wow that really went off-topic.

+1 Amatsuki! +72893 Chaltier! Amatsuki's plotline is just amazing *o* I'd be incredibly happy if the juxtaposition between the real world and the 'virtual' world were animated out-- especially since the lines have been blurring in recent chapters. But it really has been a while, so the chances of this happening is very slim ;u;

Well, we can dream.
