Tomoyo has diligently been filming all of Sakura's adventures as a Cardcaptor--and it turns out she's been recording our adventures here at Colors too! Why don't we take a little trip down memory lane with her?

Every round we'll get to relive a game that's currently inactive on Colors. Perhaps it will be an old favorite, or one you never got to play before? Let's see what game Tomoyo has in store for us today!

This round's topic is...ADAPTATIONS!
Manga into anime, video games into movies, novels into webcomics--anything goes! Do you have a favorite adaptation that turned out good? A hated adaptation that turned out terrible? Any adaptations you actually like more than the original or whose original you're not actually familiar with? If you could see any series adapted into a medium of your choice, what series/medium would you choose?

My hopes for adaptations are always that my favorite Western media gets a manga adaptation so I can deck it! A Hollow Knight/Silksong manga is totally plausible, right... Or Undertale, I know Japan loves Undertale...

I think the Bungou to Alchemist anime adaptation of the mobage was... I mean, there were definitely parts I liked about it! And parts I think it did well! (The episode showing the impact of the disappearance of literature on regular people was not something the mobage ever did but boy did it hit hard.) But they both made a lot of changes from the mobage and also made Dazai The Protagonist, which. Is always extremely risky because Dazai sucks. I love him but he sucks. Like I read someone complaining about the first episode and how incredibly unlikable the protagonist was to consider betraying his friend for a literature award and I was just like 'yeah that was exactly how Dazai was in real life, sorry.'

I guess technically the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children manga is an adaptation and I loved that but it's so far from the games. The games were not nearly that gory. I'm pretty sure that manga is the bloodiest SMT has ever been. It doesn't really feel like an adaptation so much as its own thing.

At least you did manage to get a Sans deck so far...surely more will eventually follow somehow.

Sans is legally a Pop'n Music deck, so it really depends if any other Japanese series want to include a different Undertale character... Which certainly isn't impossible, but I feel like Sans is the most iconic Undertale character and most likely to be chosen?

I feel like a collab is a foot in the door! It happens like that sometimes with adaptations I think? Like maybe that will help eventually do a manga (I am coping this is copium but also what if I'm right and they let me collect papyrus)

God I would collect a Papryus deck instantly. Mettaton too but for sure Papyrus.

Papyrus was my favorite he's SOOOO...also Sans deserves his brother also being colors legal I think. Universe, hear my plea...!

THE WAY THE UMINEKO ANIME WAS FUMBLED... my kingdom for a solid anime adaptation of umineko..... higurashi too tbh even if the anime was my first introduction to the series. i'm still bummed that higurashi gou/sotsu wasn't a reboot that was more faithful to the visual novel with better animation. higurashi and umineko both have so many good themes and depth to characters that was lost in the anime adaptation (and i am particularly salty about how the portrayals of reina and shion in the anime led to them being labeled as Yandere Queens when they!! aren't yandere characters!! i feel so strongly about this that i did a whole presentation on it for a presentation party)

Honestly, I'm pretty torn on whether I'd rather have beautiful adaptations of existing content or new stuff. Like obviously seeing the scenes you love animated well is incredible, but on the other hand, there's something to be said for having more of a canon, you know?

i will forever be sad at the fact that the promised neverland's season 2 was... like that. i loved reading the manga to the point it made me cry at the ending, and then i decide to check out the anime just to find out my favorite character (yuugo) and the lucky pond arc wasnt even in the season </3 but i am excited for the adaptation for witch hat atelier! my friend got me into the manga and it makes me wish magic was real, and i hope to feel the same magic watching the anime :3

The Promised Neverland season 2 is legendarily bad to the point where I, a person who has never consumed any of it, know it sucked. Something about rushing?

Witch Hat Aterlier is gorgeous, I hope the anime is just as beautiful...!

[guy who is normal about black butler voice] how can i make this about black butler

i am. not a huge fan of the black butler anime especially the first two seasons solely because of how non-canon it is. even on its own it's just mehhh. season 2 is a whole fever dream and it was lowkey a pain to get through but at least there's pretty demon lady and the gazette opening. Howeverrr with the release of season 4 and 5 i'm starting to have hope for any future anime adaptations that may or may not be in the works (i honestly forgot if anything was announced yet or if it's just speculation for now... i know there was kind of a cliffhanger-y scene at the end of season 5 but there's no official date or anything yet). the next arc is honestly one of my least favorites LMAO but at least we'd get another grell cameo and OTHELLO ANIMATED!!! oh and i guess the victorian boys have a boyband now. because that's a thing that happens in the manga. for some reason

my absolute DREAM!!! would be a reaper-centric spin off. i love the grim reapers so much. i don’t even really care for the main story. the reapers are where it’s at. miss yana toboso casually dropped the hardest idea ever and Didn’t even make it a proper plot line?!?!? like it’s been over TEN YEARS now since the reaper lore drop™ in emerald witch arc i can’t believe it’s barely been elaborated on since. i need to learn more about the reapers. i am clawing at the walls. i am banging at yana toboso’s door.

uhhh and i guess the kuromyus are pretty good as well. i was a little shocked to learn that there were black butler musicals but the most beautiful death in the world is SO peak!!! it has tragic doomed yaoi. it has reapers content. what more could i possibly ask for!!! i know i just said i don’t like the early anime seasons because they’re not canon but. well. it’s not Not canon because eric and alan were at least shown in the manga... on like two panels... ~~one of which was their dead bodies...~~ i am once again asking for more of them... please just enough for me to donate their decks at least

i don't know where i'm going with this man i just wanted an excuse to yap about the reapers. did you know i love the reapers. ok bye
