why is it embarrassing to talk about ships in front of people

I tend to really like ship dynamics where the characters are opposite or even enemies to lovers in some capacity. Antagonistic ships are always very engaging for me but if I'm honest I'll ship anything that has even remote chemistry lmfao

anyway I have always been a big fan of some of the classics in my catalogue of anime like REBORN's 8059 that has been so legendary that I still use that combo of numbers for things if I need four digits.

first OTP was ruby and sapphire from pokespe !! they are the reason i got into fandom cos i looked up fanfics, started writing fanfics, joined pokemon forums etc when i was like 12 y/o and the rest is history. so many of the ships i like are basically the opposites attract trope and they were the genesis of that for me... also it would only be many years later that i would realise that i also like pairs that go: "i like you and you know i like you, and i know you like me back, but i can't act on my feelings for you because i like you too much and hate myself too much" CHEFS KISS... satomaya from hyouka is basically that x1000 for me but i need to give all the credit to RuSa / franticshipping for planting the seed (ㅅ˘˘)

in terms of wacky ships, i've always loved the idea of pairing up characters (in the same show/series) who've never interacted in canon just to see how they'd bounce off each other? whether platonically or romantically character explorations like that really make my brain go brrr r

this is very much a platonic ship but in my headcanon professor layton and jackelope milgram are the BEST of friends. i have a mass of both of their series together. layton just can't help hanging out with this demonic murderer kidnapping (not a) rabbit and has taken him on multiple train rides and archeological digs. also in my headcanon es gave luke a gun. but in the spirit of loooooooove i looove it when my boyfriend talks about his OC ships, it's adorable and amazing and aaaaa

I'm a massive shipper, to the point where if a canon doesn't have a ship I like, I don't really feel invested in it. I kinda get "That was good!" and don't think about it any deeper than that, lol. It's hard to say what the connecting factor in all of them is though... I guess I tend to like "unlikely couple" ships where they don't seem to get along but they do and quite well. However on average I don't ship the popular ships, and I have gotten some rude reactions before, so even though I don't want to I might get defensive at first blush... Sorry, skill issue ;_;. I'm getting better, I swear!

I also am a pretty huge romantic and even though I like grimdark and edgy canons I love happy endings for my ships... No divorce here they're married for life (in my dumbass opinion).

Right now... Oh this is embarrassing but whatever! My OTP is Screwllum/Ratio from Honkai: Star Rail. I love, love how despite their differences, Screwllum seems to genuinely respect Ratio, to the point of pursuing him to collaborate and make a whole new game mode for the player. And Ratio also sees that respect and returns it in kind! There hasn't been any new content for them and there probably won't be any for a long while, but that sign won't stop me because I can't read.

Hmmm most of my ships now are cannon ones, since I'm mostly reading Danmei atm. I love the dynamics between Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye, going from enemies to obsessive lovers. KHR's 1827 and R27 are amongst my oldest ships. I also enjoy Zhongli and Childe as a ship as well! The Chais in FF14 is very sweet too! Now that I think about it a bit more, I'm remembering a lot more old ships, cannon and non cannon that made me stick with a series.

I'm not a massive shipper in general, but I do love a good master/servant ship and Auron/Braska has had its claws in me for four years now, true otp material. It's really tragic and doomed and I love that because there's something so delicious about fictional characters' suffering. I'm real easy with ships, will happily read stuff for a lot of dynamics and pairings. But when it comes to like... games with romance routes where you get to choose, I tend to stick pretty fast to my first choice of partner as The Preferred Option and that will usually be an OTP if I really like it (see: Shakarian from Mass Effect being my big one since ME2 released lmfao).

I've talked a lot about CrowRean in the past, so let's shake things up a little (maybe). Let's go with my favorite Hoyoverse ships (mlm edition)!

For Honkai Impact, the only real mlm ship is KevinSu-- and boy do I love their potential for angst. I mean, look at how much time Su spent alongside him, pining endlessly. Truly the biggest yearner to date.

Genshin brings us to Haikaveh! Funnily enough, Kaveh was the reason I went back to the game when Sumeru dropped, and I got his C6 when he ran the first time. I simply love their interactions and honestly think that Alhaitham having a softer side he only reserves for Kaveh is so great. When are they getting their wedding event?

For Honkai Star Rail, I'd say that Ratiorine-- ever since we got the patch with Aventurine's story, I've felt that their dynamic is so good, and that Ratio has that softer side to him that could help Aventurine heal.

Aaand finally, Zenless Zone Zero! Frankly I haven't played much of the game, but what I've seen of LightWise has sold me on the ship. Lighter may act cool but when it comes to Wise he gets all flustered!

I am a huge shipper and it's honestly very strange for me to get into a fandom and NOT have a ship for it... please send help. Like if I don't get invested in a ship, it's probably not a fandom I think about often. Not that there's anything wrong with those canons, I just love to flesh out a universe in my head by making my dolls and action figures kiss, y'know. (tbh this is making me miss pairings tcg haha...)

I guess my first OTP was... of all things, Derek/Angie from Trauma Center. I started seeking out fic and art for them when I was younger, which got me invested in fandom in the first place. It feels like that dominos meme a bit ngl... like "Atlus releases a sleeper hit DS game before they forget about the series" > "Noelle gets obsessed with pixel cards for almost 14 years".

The newest ship that I'm invested in is Chisato/Takina from Lycoris Recoil, but I've liked them for a few years now, I just only get into a new thing once every millennia! Those recent short episodes have fed me well. Before that my newest ship was Magilou/Velvet from Tales of Berseria, I really enjoy the inherent drama with them. And my eternal OTP is Haruka/Chihaya from im@s!! There's definitely more (I have written too many thousands of words of fics for other ships), but for now those are between me and my word documents. 🫡

Oh, and in terms of dynamics, if a ship can be described with Kenshi Yonezu's Eine Kleine it is probably my OTP.

I can go ham on my ships, but some of my biggest are:

GoGe (Gojo Satoru x Geto Suguru) - Its one of those if you know you clearly know. There is just too much there, and I say this as someone who ships both canon and never interacted ships. These two were litterally made Yin Yang for eachother and when one takes over the plot narrative and becomes the other's like litteral tunnel vision focus (If your anime only, you reached that point now). Its just the cheifs kiss of ships.

XiCheng (Lan Xichen x Jiang Cheng) - This is actually one of those "Never intereact" ships. This ship is like the ideal rarepair ship; in that its not a rare pair, Its litterally the second biggest ship in the series*. But its a couple that just work so well together, especially by the ened of the story, that people really wanted to fill in space and gaps and also just give better endings to alot of characters. However, I can confirm this ship existed since the first part of the story (Many will say its the Dongua for adding scenes of them, but no this was a ship prior to the animation.) But its gotten so big now, we litterally get offical crumbs from the series a lot now; offical art of them shopping together (one of the book art inserts.), weird references to eachother (NY audio drop a few years back), references in merch (the Witch AU changed the chemestry in my actual brain.) Ect ect. It was a ship that came from nothing that even offical artist and future stuff started to sprinkle things in for us. We are not fed on one large dinner, but given an endless amount of hors d'oeuvre.

KaiJou (Kaiba Seto x Jounouchi Katsuya) - This still one of my favs and oldest ships. Its actually in the Ship deck cause of me hehe. Its not what it used to be like 20+ years ago, but that is to be expected when your fandom is pretty much nostalgia fans and card game enthusiast. You dont get many good fanart or fanfics for ships as you do for indivisual characters. Ah well, Its still my fav, though I think my taste in ships have shifted a bit more (I guess I still like someone to be fiesty in my ships.) Not my first ship but one of my oldest.

But for me, I think shipwise it really depends on their designs and mixing. I see a lot of alt ships for series where I go "I guess I can see it" but then a lot where i am ???. For my ships, I cant say what draws the attraction, I know for just about all 3 of the ones I listed above, I didnt get influenced by fandoms for my choices, it came from watching or reading first. Ships are weird but when something gets the brain sizzling, thats the one ya know? As for oldest, I am unsure tbh, but it probably was something from a cartoon series when I was a kid for sure (I know RE2 Leon and Ada was big for me. Kaiba x Jounouchi ofc, Daigo (Steven) x Mikuri (Wallace) was a big one for me for PKMN too (if you knew me in the 2000s era of TCGs, my website was named/themed around them).

* - I could say this for all my ships, but often you see info saying "x is the biggest/second biggest ship in a fandom" because they pull from one specific site (AO3/Weibo for those two.) which is actually highly infactual, and also never takes release into effect (GoGe being an example, your not given this ship until like 7 books into the manga.)

While I'm not a huge fandom/shipping person, my all time favorite and first loved ship is Bubbline (Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the Vampire Queen)!!! It's a classic and canon.

Another one I love is Fu Hua x Kiana from Honkai 3rd Impact. It's become pretty popular, but I remember shipping it early on, almost as soon as Fu Hua was introduced in the game. I love the "serious rule follower" x "energetic do gooder" dynamic.

The rest of my ships are pretty much between my friend's and mine's OCs lol, and most of them are insanely toxic because that's fun.

Shipping! Right now I'm deep in the 100 Line mines, and the ships there are absolute nightmares, which means that they're all occupying my headspace in a way that feels slightly deranged. The two main guys there are people who are strangling each other by their red string. Can't get rid of each other, but can't stand each other in a number of routes either. I do love mess.

Yoshikage Kira from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable x Makima from Chainsaw Man!!!

They complete each other and challenge each other in so many ways, it's seriously unreal... They understand the inherent eroticism of hands. You can see all this art I made where I try very hard to draw hands. He gets the drop on her and cuts off her hand, but her consciousness transfers into the hand allowing her to survive the ending of part 1... They watch movies together... They try new foods and take the plating and atmosphere into account... They remove "sources of unrest" even though they have completely contradictory definitions of those...!!! They are truly problematic. I feel like I'm not explaining this well. We call them "famigear" because our RP gave titles to the characters, Makima was the familiar and Kira was the gear. He was a motorcycle. So she loved his "vroom" noise just like Chainsaw Man. Have I mentioned that she became attached enough to his scent that she didn't even notice when his face changed back because Kira has two faces. The themes literally complete each other... They're from the nineties, your honor...

i genuinely cannot remember my first otp (it's probably one of those things where i shipped them even before i knew what shipping was? help), so i'll instead talk about shipping in general! i do love romance, so i almost always end up with a ship whenever i get into a fandom. i tend to be the fixated type though, so when i like a ship then they're bound to each other now. soulmates. i am drawing a circle around them and no one else is allowed in. i typically end up shipping my faves together, too, regardless of canon interaction or not. my decisions on which decks to collect are also inspired by ships that i love hehe...

for my brand, i love admiration! i love characters who end up saving each other, if not literally then narrative-wise! i love banter and teasing! i tend to always fall for straight-laced, responsible-type characters, so seeing them being unraveled by another character who just knows which buttons to push is endlessly amusing to me. currently, my otp is leokasa from enstars. they're actually on my mind 24/7, i wish i was kidding. my very limited japanese is being used to translate voicelines that give me even the tiniest bit of crumbs about them. no thoughts, only leokasa. i would say save me, but honestly they give me so much joy that it's fine. 😊🧡❤️

my first ship i was truly diehard and would call an OTP (as far as i can remember) is, embarrassingly enough, zane and kawaii chan from aphmau’s minecraft roleplay series ‘mystreet.’ i tend to ship characters that i see myself in with characters i find attractive/interesting, and that’s exactly what this was. kawaii chan is a lover of all things shipping (she famously loves to rpf truth her two friends aphmau and aaron, who do end up together so) and is head to toe a pink catgirl, everything i wanted to be as a wee lass. she is incredibly bubbly, optimistic, and generally a very open person. zane, on the other had, is emo as hell and has a hard time opening up, but secretly loves mlp, so they’re truly my perfect version of grumpy x sunshine and opposites attract. its been nearly 10 years since the series started and they still make me giggle and kick my little feet. sorry for long commenting but they make me crazy (i used to have pillows of them but idk where they went T-T)

I used to, I think, ship more things than I do now; I don't know if I just had lower standards or I genuinely just cared more about more pairs of characters than I do now... idk! But nowadays it's rare for me to care about pairs of canon characters (not necessarily 'canon ships', just... two real characters... LOL). Usually when I do ship two canon characters now, it's characters with very odd/unusual senses of extreme devotion and closeness. There's a few pairings I've been super crazy over lately but I hesitate to mention them so instead I'll go with the classic of Iruma and Asmodeus from Mairuma; they are so cutes to me lol. Also if a show has a yandere or yandere-adjacent girl, or just a girl with a crazy crush, I am automatically on her side and I ship her with whatever guy she likes no matter how lame he might be or probably is LOL.

More often instead I am busy self-shipping with 1000's of cartoon boyfriends instead. At this moment in time it's pirate boys from One Piece that are haunting me. This is probably a decent reason why I have less time for canon x canon ships lol!!! My brain is already occupied, unless two characters REALLY stand out to me for some reason.

I was trying to figure out what dynamics I like, and I guess I like it when a pairing is one-sided! I love when there are unrequited feelings. I don't wanna name them (bc spoilers), but one of my favourite pairings ever has someone who thinks of the other as his friend (probably his one and only friend because he's an asshole) while the other, uh... orchestrates and succeeds in causing the other one's death. lol.

Right now, I'm playing through Hundred Line and I like Sumino←Omokage (especially in the KG route, of course). I'll see if I like anything else once I finish, over half-way done!

my first foray into fandom in general was actually via rocketshipping! jessie and james were how i first learned about fanfiction when i was like 12 or 13, and tbh fandom has kind of taken over my life ever since then. currently i'm very into theater-related ships, mainly gelphie and madhel from wicked and death becomes her, respectively. some of my longest running ships that i still am constantly thinking about are supercorp (from supergirl), swanqueen (once upon a time), and jemily (criminal minds) (can you tell i watched a lot of live action tv when i was a teenager) (also can you tell i'm a lesbian lmfao), but i'm always on the lookout for more wlw ships to add to my brain.

Right now I'm deeeep in the Jayce/Viktor Arcane trenches, season 2 absolutely dropkicked me in the head with the canon soulmate-ism and various other plot reveals. They got me writing fanfic again, they're the reason I was FINALLY able to convince a friend of mine to RP with me and now we have a months-long Jayvik AU going, every time I see a stupid Tiktok or whatever about them I feel like I'm losing my mind. Top tier stuff!!!

In general though I'm a big shipper, often a polyshipper/multishipper depending on the source/characters. I love having fun and analyzing character interactions and crafting AUs and such. I don't think I have a specific vibe I always go for, I love the friends-to-lovers, the enemies-to-lovers, the toxic yaoi/yuri, soulmates, etc. All kinds of dynamics can be fun! I'm also a huuuge sucker for lovers-to-enemies(-back-to-lovers?) which I think needs to be more popular!!

I'm a major multishipper so there are SO many ships I like to think about. Wrightworth (Ace Attorney) is an all timer for me (though I definitely get the appeal of Edgeworth/Gumshoe), as well as Rin/Hanayo (Love Live!), and Joker/Akechi (Persona 5) (though tbh with Joker being the protag it's pretty easy to ship him with everyone). I've been deep into CRK and Eternal Sugar/Hollyberry is consuming me rn. Also pretty into whatever Espresso and Madeleine Cookie have going on. Generally speaking though, I don't go for the popular/"default" ships, at least not as my favorites. Not that these are rare by any means, but I much prefer Utapri Tokiya/Masato and Natsuki/Ren to Masato/Ren and Tokiya/Otoya. Of course my throuple situation with Natsuki and Eiichi is ranked above all. Also Van's there too sometimes lol.

I used to be SUCH a massive shipper as a teen but looking back now I think all I've seriously shipped during the past 10 years or so is Jigen/Lupin and Kim/Harry. So I guess I'm into the partner thing! And I can't resist a sad fictional man...

Something that I love and that always sucks me in is when you have, sometimes not really a full love triangle, but more of a triangulation of desires between three characters, in both more or less explicit ways. I think it's such a good way to explore queerness on fictional works.

Well I set up a proper OTP app called Aegis a while back, and it's pretty nice. I find it pretty stupid that some companies, even banks, still use SMS for OTP. It's not just SIM swapping (an attacker socially engineers your phone company to transfer your phone number to their SIM), the phone system has a lot of security flaws. Didn't Veritasium make a video about it? Using the codes does get annoying after a bit, but hey some sites require 2FA so whatever.

I feel like I've been subsisting on the same ships for years at this point lmao, so all of them are from less-recent fandoms. Kotetsu/Barnaby from Tiger & Bunny; Tianaveen from The Princess and the Frog; Sherlock/Watson from the Sherlock Holmes stories (not the BBC show, just want to make that abundantly clear lmao); Erwin/Levi from Attack on Titan (Have I ever read the manga or watched the anime? No. Is the ship so hot it overcomes that? Yes.); Harumichi and Rei/Minako from Sailor Moon (I've also found some really good Usagi/Mamoru fic even though I wouldn't say I'm hugely into that particular ship).

I'm terrible about actually finishing shows I've watched, so I don't have many new pairings, but once I've finally finished Bravern I'll get to dig into Lewis/Isami fic lmao. One of my first ships from before I even knew what anime is was Oscar and Andre from The Rose Of Versailles, I still love them. And I love Miaka and Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi, Mitsuki and Takuto from Full Moon wo Sagashite and Aya and Tooya from Ayashi No Ceres even tho shoujo series always take their time with all the drama lol
