Pot of Gold 130

Introduction

Pot of Gold is a monthly game. The objective of the Pot of Gold is to complete different 'tasks' that will be different every month. You'll get small rewards for completing them individually, but receive bonuses if you manage to complete all of them. How much of the rainbow can you complete?

This month's theme is... Super Mario Bros!!

Rules

☆ Everything collected and turned in for these tasks must be done and logged in between April 1st and April 30th. You get one month and one month only, use it wisely.

☆ When commenting here after completing a task, make sure you label your subject with Completed:, as well as the number of the task you finished.

☆ Please give me a link to your logs with every comment you make. Also, make sure you link me all the stuff that I need to check.

☆ I will be able to pass out most of the prizes (excluding the grand prize) before the end of the month, so please tell me (with a note in your comment) if you want them earlier.

☆ Pot of Gold tasks can only be turned in when the round is open, so that means that after 12:01 PM GMT on May 1st, you can't turn in anything even if your tasks were completed and logged in the correct time!

☆ You can format your comment however you prefer. Veth has posted a lovely code here that you can use if you'd like.

☆ If you are using a coupon for your rewards - please link it somewhere I can see so that I can process it when giving out rewards!

Red Task

Mario has done it all: plumbing, racing, brawling, tennis, doctoring, exploring, and just about every olympic game out there. You could say he really is the jack of all trades! Perhaps that is why he has friends from all walks of life! Maybe we could take a page from his book and expand our horizons as well!

Task: Trade with 8 different players this month.

Reward: 13 random cards.

Orange Task

Despite her regal dress, Princess Daisy isnt afraid to get down and dirty. When not being the princess of Sarasaland, she is often participating in sports and other fun games with her friends. Though, becareful if you plan to challenge her to something, she seems to have an uncanny nack for becoming a champion and mastering any challenge!

Task: Master two decks this month. Primary tier players only have to master one deck.

Reward: 6 random new cards and 3 crayons.

Yellow Task

Huh? Mario again- Wait no, ugh its Wario. His greed knows no bounds! Crude and lazy, I doubt he will get much done anytime soon unless coins are involved. Maybe we should show him how Color's players stay productive? (Not like that will motivate him much.)

Task: Use at least 5 services this month. (List here)

Reward: 10 random cards.

Green Task

Oh look! How kind, Luigi is sharing the green spot of POG with Yoshi! But where are they off too? Eh? Are they heading towards that spooky mansion ontop of that gloomy hill? Er- Well, I wouldn't have taken a scardy cat like Luigi to be brave enough to venture off there, but maybe he is braver then we give credit?

Task: Talk about some of your favorite spooky things; Do you like horror movies? Maybe some scary video games? Stories or books? Or maybe you don't like scary things at all- anything you try to avoid in media? (Such as ghost or clowns)

Reward: 7 random new cards.

Blue Task

Rosalina protects the cosmos, mother to the lumas, and an ally to Mario and his friends. But since she has been finding herself out of the galaxy on numerous occassions, such as in races and in brawls, she seems to be a bit lonely. I guess she misses her Lumas back at the observatory. Maybe we can cheer her up by bringing something that reminds her of her dear friends?

Task: Bring cards spelling "Lumas" earned in April. These cards must also be either blue or yellow in color! The cards must start with the letters. You will lose these cards.

Reward: 5 crayons.

Purple Task

Waaa! Who else would we expect to represent the purple space for POG but other than Waluigi. Waluigi is always the brides maid but never the bride- that is to say, he never gets to stair in a main line game. The complete opposite of Luigi, who seems to always appear along side his brother, sometimes even in his own games! Maybe we should find some games that Waluigi can be the spot light of?

Task: Participate in 10 games this month.

Reward: 15 random cards.

Brown Task

Ah, there he is, the big kuppa himself! Most of Bowser's apperances are as the nemesis of Mario and his friends. Can you blame him though? He has eyes for none other then Princess Peach- its clear to see why he is so determined. However, It appears Princess Peach doesn't feel the same way about him as he does for her. With Mario busy at the moment, maybe we should grab a 1up and put Boswer back in his place!

Task: Level up once OR gain 100 cards this month.

Reward: 10 random cards.

Gray Task

What? No Princess Peach catagory? Sorry player, it appears your princess is in another Pot of Gold. Thats okay, at least Toad is here. Though, its really hard to understand him, and I am not even sure he understands us. Maybe if we show him a few pictures of princes and princesses, he could show us the way to Princess Peach!

Task: Bring in 5 cards of characters that are royal (King, Queen, Prince, Princess, ect.). Cards must be earned this month and you will lose them!

Reward: 15 random cards and 7 crayons.

☆ Completing all the tasks will earn you an additional 20 random cards, 5 random crayons and one of the GRAND PRIZES below! Phew that's a lot of cards!

I will watch any horror movie, I just watched "Longlegs" and "Nosferatu" finally for the first time lol. I like being scared, it's fun. I love going to haunted mazes and houses. Or maybe you don't like scary things at all- anything you try to avoid in media? I'm typically not a huge fan of horror movies or video games, but I do enjoy horror podcasts! The Magnus Archives (and its sequel series The Magnus Protocol) and Old Gods of Appalachia are my favorites :) Recently, I've been listening to TMA when I'm at work as I finished it a while ago and wanted to do a relisten now that Protocol is airing. I think I like the mystery aspect more than the horror aspect - getting to piece together different clues along with the protagonist as he figures out how everything connects together is really fun for me, and now that I've already listened to everything once, the episodes don't freak me out as much as they did the first time, which is a definite plus.

While I don't love things like jumpscares and visual horror, I love psychological horror! It's likely my favorite genre to interact with. But I am really into Horror videogames and movies for sure, as well as just misc horror as well. Horror to me is super creative, so I love writing about it, covering the mindset and symbolism in many horror storys and movies, and design aspects of things as well. Even in your basic slasher, you can have such an interesting discussion on yonic and phalic symbolism and the process of what is being portrayed. For IRL, I dont really stick to the super natural, but I do enjoy hearing stories still hehe.

I’m not a jumpscare or gore fan but the kind of horror I do like is stuff that Makes U Think on a psychological level – like stories about questioning one’s sanity, settings where everything is just a little bit off … I also really like folk horror, wicker man-style stuff, legends about ancient creatures, Scarfolk vibes, the sense of there being something out there but nobody really being able to define what it is. I just read a short story called Pyret about a [fictional] Swedish cryptid that inflitrates rural communities disguising itself as a person or a big animal, really cool eerie stuff.

You know what scares the fuck out of me? DOGS. It's like opening a front door and getting a big tarantula thrown in my face! (Such as ghost or clowns) x My favorite way of consuming horror media is through video games, because I feel that's when you truly get immersed and the scary parts truly hit. That said, my favorite horror game has got to be Outlast-- the very first one, along with the Whistleblower DLC. Not only was the game pretty good at giving me scares, once I looked deeper into the lore about the characters everything that happened hit even more.
