Colors Chat 132

Finally, school's out for the day. Time to go to your part-time job, get your homework done, or dungeon crawl through the physical manifestation of someone's unconscious psyche. Oh, but wait, the group chat's blowing up! Better see what everyone wants...

Welcome to Colors Chat, where you can chat with your fellow Colors TCG members! For your response to the topic, you'll receive a card rainbow! As a general rule, responses should be around 5 sentences, but if you're a little short that's fine as long as your response is thoughtful. You don't have to answer all the prompts (or any of the prompts at all) as long as your response is on the topic.

This round's topic is.... DISNEY!

Do you like Disney? Have you been to Disneyland? Would you like to go? What is your favourite Disney film and why? Do you remember the first Disney film you ever watched? What is the most recent one? What's your favourite thing about Disney films?

After you've responded, reply to other players' answers and start up a discussion!

You can earn 2 extra random cards by replying to other people, up to 6 bonus cards total (3 replies). Feel free to have more discussions than that, but you'll only get rewards for your first three conversations. If you max this out, you'll also recieve a bonus crayon.

See the first comment on this post for how to obtain your bonus rewards.

Please keep all comments civil and polite. This round ends Thursday 18th May.

I have been to Disneyland a couple of times! I really enjoyed the Splash Mountain ride and would go on it a bunch of times in a row with an all-day pass.

I like a lot of Disney movies, and a lot of Disney songs. I think The Princess and the Frog is my favorite one, but I watched a lot growing up - I had a VHS of Aladdin and the direct-to-video sequels. I haven't seen a lot of the newer ones though.

Also this question doesn't mention Twisted Wonderland but 'gacha game with Disney villains as cute anime boys' is absolutely my aesthetic thank you. I would get into it easier if I weren't so bad at rhythm games.

I HAVE...complicated feelings about disney... i think their growing monopoly on media is worrisome, their parks are prohibitively expensive for most people, and the company and its owners are so profitable while constantly going through cycles of layoffs for its employees. i also hate how cgi-heavy the marvel films are...a practical effect or actual set, i am begging you. also there's the fact that they're so cgi-heavy because cgi artists are one of the few filmmaker trades that aren't unionized yet so they can pay them less than unionized trades like sfx artists and set builders, so it's a scummy cost-cutting measure too

that being said, the nostalgia is there! i used to watch the jungle book a ton as a kid, because it was the one movie in english that my grandma owned and she used to watch me while my parents went to work. i used to really like the lion king, hercules, and tarzan growing up too. the music in all those slap tbh. stage musical adaptations of disney movies are really good too. the puppetry in the lion king stage musical is so cool, and the music in the hunchback of notre dame musical is so good, especially performed live.

as far as more recent films, i really like ratatouille, coco, and encanto. i do miss the more traditional style of animation though, and it'd be cool if they brought it back.

Asides from casually playing Twisted Wonderland, I'm not into anything Disney related for fun these days ahaha. /screams from vfx hell
But when I was growing up, I loved the lion king and atlantis. I also had quite a few of those interactive story pc games! Lion king 2 gamebreak was my jam.

I wasn't allowed to watch most cartoons as a kid and I haven't circled back around to them either, so I don't have much exposure to Disney classics. I did have access to Disney channel sitcoms so I watched tons of those! Recently I tried revisiting Lab Rats and Kickin' It for the nostalgia, but they're definitely not written for all ages haha

I also haven't been to Disneyland since I find theme parks overwhelming, but even if it isn't for me I think it's nice that people have fond memories of it!

I've never been a huge fan of 'Disney' as like, a household name, nor do I have many positive things to say about their business practices lol, but there are definitely Disney-adjacent properties that I really like. Gravity Falls and Wonder Over Yonder technicallyyyy count since they aired on the Disney channel lol, and those are some of my favorite cartoons. ^_^

Of course, there are plenty of unarguably classic Disney movies that I do enjoy, too. I love Hercules and Mulan, and The Emperor's New Groove is just flat out the perfect film LMAO. I actually got to show it to two friends recently who had never seen it, and that was a real treat. I honestly have not seen too many of their older films, and I genuinely should try to do that at some point... I guess I tend to like their 2000s films simply by virtue of having seen more of them. The most recent Disney film I saw was Turning Red and it made me cry on a long plane ride XD

Same as most people I am highly critical of Disney's business practices but also I'm an American and I grew up on Disney so you know how it is. You can tell when the people actually involved in the making genuinely care about the end product, and while I feel like Disney movies are a lot more hit or miss these days than they used to be, they're still releasing some real bangers (Encanto and Turning Red making me cry out here lmao).

I'm a big fan of the more "cult classic-y" movies like Atlantis and Treasure Planet, in the ideal world I would LOVE for those to get the live action remakes to 1) boost their popularity and 2) to see how amazing they could be with modern CGI but honestly it's probably for the best that'll never happen because Disney would just create the ugliest, worst cast, most horribly managed, most awful live actions and I'd wish they never made them, so. Small mercies I suppose. Lilo and Stitch I'm SO sorry sweetie I can't believe they're doing this to you, one of the best animated films in existence.
