Colors Chat 118

Finally, school's out for the day. Time to go to your part-time job, get your homework done, or dungeon crawl through the physical manifestation of someone's unconscious psyche. Oh, but wait, the group chat's blowing up! Better see what everyone wants...

Welcome to Colors Chat, where you can chat with your fellow Colors TCG members! For your response to the topic, you'll receive a card rainbow! As a general rule, responses should be around 5 sentences, but if you're a little short that's fine as long as your response is thoughtful. You don't have to answer all the prompts (or any of the prompts at all) as long as your response is on the topic.

This round's topic is.... COMPOSERS!
Share your thoughts on your favorite (or least favorite?) music composers! Anime, video games, movies, anything goes. If you could have a specific composer create the soundtrack for a certain series, who would you choose? If YOUR life had a soundtrack what would it be/who would compose it?

After you've responded, reply to other players' answers and start up a discussion! You can earn 2 extra random cards by replying to other people, up to 6 bonus cards total. Feel free to have more discussions than that, but you'll only get rewards for your first three conversations. See the first comment on this post for how to obtain your bonus rewards.

Please keep all comments civil and polite. This round ends Sunday, July 17th is closed.

Music composers... There's only a few I've taken notice of enough to remember their names. Tenpei Sato is definitely the first one to come to mind - he does the soundtracks for the Disgaea games and other Nippon Ichi games in that general verse. If you want really fun, really badass electric guitar stuff, he's your guy.

Rock n' Rocks is such a good song. Soul Nomad remaster when.

Composers...I don't really pay attention to that kind of thing often, but as far as scores go the only one that I know is Kevin Penkin who scored Made In Abyss and Tower of God - and for good reason, since he's highly acclaimed. I think that more composers should get more recognition, but he's pretty great.

YUKI KAJIURA... she's one of my favorite composers, and i've been listening to her a lot recently because i found out that the madoka magica ost is on spotify. i also like go shiina (tales of legendia has my favorite ost of any tales of game). it's actually perfect that the demon slayer soundtrack was composed by yuki kajiura AND go shiina. also the umineko soundtrack in general is 🔥🔥🔥, but i think all my favorite stuff is by dai. that soundtrack does not miss though.

i'm gonna include vocaloid composers too! it's hard to pick a favorite, but i have a fair amount that i'm a big fan of. ryo from supercell, hachi, DECO*27, MASA WORKS DESIGN, kikuo, pinocchio-p, wowaka... i think it's really neat how differently they all use vocaloid, and all have such a distinctive sound.

echoing that if i'm watching an anime and the music is done by yuki kajiura? yeah. LET'S FUCKING GO.

also like, there's been a bunch of bad anime (or anime with poor adaptations) that is only saved by kajiura's music. i'm looking at you, tsubasa: reservoir chronicle.

i also love nobuo uematsu's music, final fantasy ost is just iconic. also i've been listening to a fuckton of vocaloid and just. the composers in the vocaloid scene are just amazing???
