Since we did a Mother's Day chat, can't forget about the dads! Talk about your favorite fictional fathers, tropes around media dads, characters without dads you think could use a dad, found family fathers and friend group dad friends, anything dad-related goes!

JOSEPH JOESTAR... like obviously he slipped as a husband, but he clearly loves all his kids (and grandson)? of course he does everything he can to help his daughter holly in part 3, and you can tell that he cares a lot about jotaro too. and he does his best to connect with josuke once he finds out he exists, but still gives him the time he needs; like you can tell that he really wants to connect with him and make up for lost time, but also respects his boundaries and the fact that josuke might not want him in his life and might not ever refer to him as his father, and that he has that right (and i love that they've bonded a bit by the end of part 4). also he adopts shizuka without a second thought! she's a stand user so she needs someone who can understand her in that regard and he couldn't really ask anyone else to adopt her (jotaro already had jolyne and josuke is a high schooler, so), so he does it.

also jotaro as a father, ough... poor guy was doing what he thought was best. he has so much unaddressed trauma to work through, and he wanted so badly for jolyne to have a normal life even if that meant he wasn't in it. which wasn't what she needed at all and she still got wrapped up in dangerous stuff anyway despite his efforts to protect her by distancing himself, and she's rightfully upset about that. it's clear he loves her and wants to protect her, but he just went about it in a flawed way. there's a scene where she goes with him to morioh in eoh, so maybe in that universe she got to spend more time with him...

for some reason my first thought was Big Boss from MGS sjhfkjhf though he is not really a dad at all they just made kids from his DNA. but it counts! he's definitely a very interesting character, MGS3 Snake being my favorite because he's kind of a doofus in that one lmao but he gets a lot more serious as time goes on.

Qifrey and Olruggio from WHA are also honorary dads since they watches the kids Qifrey's teaching at his atelier, and I've said a million times at this point how much I love the two of them jhfksjfhf they're good dads.... maybe slightly questionable at times on Qifrey's part but still....
