Colors Chat 89

Finally, school's out for the day. Time to go to your part-time job, get your homework done, or dungeon crawl through the physical manifestation of someone's unconscious psyche. Oh, but wait, the group chat's blowing up! Better see what everyone wants...

Welcome to Colors Chat, where you can chat with your fellow Colors TCG members! For your response to the topic, you'll receive a card rainbow! As a general rule, responses should be around 6 sentences, but if you're a little short that's fine as long as your response is thoughtful. You don't have to answer all the prompts (or any of the prompts at all) as long as your response is on the topic.

This round's topic is.... UNDERRATED SERIES!
Now's the time to talk about those series you think deserve more love! Is it an old series that never got popular? A new series just starting out people should get into? Just want to gush about a series with a small fanbase or a series that's maybe objectively not that great but you love it anyway? Promote your unpopular faves now!

After you've responded, reply to other players' answers and start up a discussion! You can earn 2 extra random cards by replying to other people, up to 6 bonus cards total. Feel free to have more discussions than that, but you'll only get rewards for your first three conversations. See the first comment on this post for how to obtain your bonus rewards.

Please keep all comments civil and polite. This round ends Sunday, December 26th is closed!

do you like steampunk? do you like wuxia or danmei? do you like your romance with a healthy side of war politics? are you okay with the phrase "one sided daddy kink, maybe literally"

then do i have the novel for you: consider reading Sha Po Lang by Priest!!! sha po lang is a silkpunk danmei novel, and the tale of chang geng, (as seen in the colors deck "impurity") a young man who lives in a tiny country town whose entire life is changed by his adoptive father or 'yifu', who one day informs him that neither of them are the person they seem to be. it's the tale of a resource called ziliujin that powers the world and the political powers that fight over it, a tale of filial piety and all the ways it affects people's lives.

it is also the only story that has gu yun (as seen in the colors deck "liuli") in it, the unbelievably beautiful, monocle wearing, iron armor clad little nightmare of a man who is probably one of my favorite characters in the entire universe, a man who is best described by andie's testimonial from a few months ago

all joking aside SPL was genuinely my favorite danmei novel I read this year. it's specifically unique for having one of the main featured characters be disabled in more ways than one - i enjoy priest's portrayal of that character working with those disabilities a lot. (without giving away too many spoilers!) it also has some of my favorite relationship dynamics ever, too - both romantic in the main ship and platonic in gu yun and shen yi, who are basically just ferris bueller and cameron frye but in a silkpunk universe. as you can see here.

the best part is you can read sha po lang all online for free! there's a recently updated english translation available at Northwest Flower. Priest is the author behind the original novel that inspired Word of Honor, so if you enjoyed that, you should also definitely give this book a try!

tl;dr pls read sha po lang thank you
