May. It is the month when this community was made and prejoin started. My brain was fried from writing my thesis, so somehow I thought it would be brilliant to start a multifandom TCG (when I was supposed to be writing my thesis). I wasn't actually going to start it because it was just some half baked idea, a sudden whim, but after some encouragment, I made some mock cards and set up this community (all while procrastinating on editing). I thought I would aim for a nice and simple TCG, with a goal of 20 members. Really, I just wanted to make a few mock cards.

...what in the world happened to my simple TCG?

Before I move on to other news, here is your monthly zip of new cards. Below the first LJ cut, there is important info about member list cleaning. Please do give it a read!

♥ Member List Cleaning ♥
As we are nearing our anniversary month (June), that means we are soon going to hit our second year! This also means that dates for the inactive members section are soon going to loop around, and then we won't be able to tell if they last updated in 2010 or in 2011, which is... quite ridiculous? When June rolls around, I will be clearing all members who have dead links and who haven't updated since April of this year. Once cleared, members who wish to play again will have to rejoin and start from scratch. If you have any friends who are listed under "inactive", you might want to let them know this! I will most likely not be individually notifying inactive players unless another mod would like to help do so.

Members who are cleared this way will not have their cards added to Recycled Art. For members who wish to continue playing but cannot do so at the moment, please declare a hiatus over at the Information Change post so that we know you intend to return. For those who wish to officially quit before June rolls around, please also do this at the Information Change post. Your cards will then be added to Recycled Art.

After this, our member count will be much more accurate!

♥ Deviantart Club ♥
With so many talented artists and writers around, I really, really wanted more people to stumble on your creative works. I started a Deviantart club for Colors that I would love to see populated with art and fic of the Colors Universe if any of you are willing to share over there too. Traffic will probably still be the same (from TCG members and I suppose, from any of your watchers! Might make for extra publicity even?), but it would be amazing if Colors were to spread as a fandom. ♥ I do not frequent DA all that much myself and have very little clue about how clubs work. I've only just changed it so people... can actually join! *headdesk* So yeah, if anyone would like to step up as the administrator (co-founder, or something like that?) for the DA club, that would be absolutely fantastic! I'm mostly just hoping it'd be a second place for people to share art and fic. Right now there isn't even a club icon since I'd like to use something that players (who drew the art) are fine with me using! I did mention using the art for the TCG, but nothing about on other sites, so. :')

I also created a folder for "other fanart"... like for art of... yourself or other TCG members? Or TCG jokes? I don't know. It is the catch all folder. XD; Maybe someone will draw me my favorite characters with fishbones? Need more fishbone icons.

Random question of the month! Special decks can be visually distinguished (by their solid border and by the fact that they use two colors), but they can't be distinguished through their file names. (You kind of just have to remember they're special decks). Would it help if special decks had some sort of different naming scheme for their file names? (Such as sp_yellow01.gif instead of yellow01). The deck name would still be the same on the card, but their file names would have an sp in front. Something like that. Or is this completely unnecessary, or do you not care either way? Let us know your thoughts, and you can then snatch a special card of your choice! Unless opinions are predominantly "yes, it'd be helpful!" mixed with perhaps "I don't care either way", no changes will be made. :3

For special decks, I think that might help a bit! Personally, I don't mind either way. It's really easy to tell which decks are special by checking the cards list so that's what I've been doing whenever I'm curious. :D I am snatching dogtags13 o7

I think the special cards being labeled that way might be a good idea? Just so people don't have to look them up. Although I'm fine with the special cards staying the way they are. XD I'll be taking Dog Tags14!

I was so excited for this release, there are so many things I want to collect. I'll be taking Shen Long01, Rafale03, Iceland03, Stern02, Superior07, Observe08, Schwarzer04, Aristocrat02 and Hamha10! ♥

I still can't believe we are close to a year, it does not feel like a year has passed at all. XD;

I'm not in charge of anything that needs to distinguish between character and special decks, but Masteries and Recycled Art would probably benefit most since a lot of the time they only deal with deck names instead of having the images of the cards available. Though for Masteries, if we use a separate form for mastering special decks, that'd probably help!

Meh I don't really like the idea of naming special cards in a distinguishing way, mostly because it would be rather annoying for someone like me who uses a TCG manager. It's fairly easy to look up which ones are special decks anyway, plus the border is there.

While we're on the subject of using a TCG manager, it might be helpful to have the special cards in a separate .zip folder? I usually have to manually separate them from the batch because they're going to a different directory. It's not all that important if they're not, but it'd be nice (especially in months like this one where we have a ton of special decks in the release)

Regarding renaming special cards: I think it would help to rename them, especially as the more decks we get it will be helpful for us to distinguish the cards that way. A few decks actually are hard to tell between a special and normal (Zearth is one of them).

I think re-naming it like that will help others, but personally it doesn't matter to me. I usually know if they're special cards or not just by looking at the card and if needed, I just search it up so either way is fine with me xD

Special deck naming: I prefer it to say the same. One thing that drives me insane like you don't even know is inconsistency. having that underscore there just makes me want to rage for some reason. Taking sailorfuku05 for my thoughts.

Agreeing with a previous comment that there is a deck or two that's hard to tell at first glance, and since we're getting a lot of special decks now, I personally wouldn't mind some kind of difference in naming just so it's easier to remember (I tend to keep my normals separated from my specials in my trade pile, so it'd be helpful to know where to put them without having to look if I forgot about a deck). But if the majority prefer it without, I can live. Taking DogTags03 for this~

What, you've never noticed that the border is solid on special decks...? :'D I thought it was a pretty big difference! I'm actually more fond of solid borders than dotted borders, which is why I seem to like the look of special decks more... though my ideal would be solid border + one color. :3

I think the names are fine as is. It'd be useful but at the same time... changing already uploaded file names would be a pain. D; And then I know I'd have some that were sp_deck# and others just as deck# and I'd mix up which was which and then I'd wind up having broken links more than I do because I messed up the file name. ^^;;

Also; why does Nadeshiko & Nagihiko have two decks? Aren't they the same person?

About the special cards, I'd prefer for the naming system to stay as it is. I know there're some decks that look very similar to regular cards [like Zearth as others have already pointed out], but I think those decks are in the minority. Most of the decks are easily distinguishable otherwise, and to me it doesn't really make sense to go through all that trouble for a handful of decks. Or maybe that's just me because I can vaguely remember which decks are special. XD;; But if it comes down to changing it, I wouldn't mind either way. /o/ I'll be picking up keyhole11, thank you!

As for my freebies, I'll be picking up stern01, liberate02, p-chan05, schwarzer08, right12, cuarta03, whaleshark04 and henshin05. I'll also be picking up the henshin06 I've donated. Thank you again!

The naming thing would HELP ME OUT SO MUCH!...... I normally have no issues at the art shop. But, sometimes at masteries, going off names, sometimes I do not know where or not it's a special deck unless I recognize the card they want @_@;;;

to answer the question, i think specials are fine the way they are since i personally look at cards visually as a reference instead of only through text, but on the flipside if other users would find it more helpful, i don't object to new name formats. would you intend to go back and rename all the existing special decks? that i'd be against, though. :x

Yes, the existing special decks would be renamed to follow whatever naming format we decide on if we do change things. For myself, I only have a small amount of special cards in my trade pile, so as a player, renaming my own trading pile or resaving cards with the new names wouldn't be too much trouble, but I don't know about other players.

And yup, it's okay to take multiple henshin cards. Henshin cards are in the randomizer, since it seems the general response was positive (and my animating skills weren't as terrible as I thought! I think Henshin turned out all right?)

In regards to the special deck renaming idea, I think most of us already know which decks are special, and it's not difficult to pop into the official site and check them out if we're not sure. Renaming them would be unnecessary - that is of course under the assumption that everyone goes about things the way I do. It wouldn't be a hindrance to me either, if you decide to do it, though. :) snagging dogtags02, thank you~

I don't think the special deck card file names should be changed. I'm more of a visual person and tend to easily pick out the special deck cards through looking at the card itself instead of looking at the file name. \o/ I'll be taking Trailblazer03 as my choice card! Thank you again!

As for the special deck thing, I think it would get pretty obvious the more of the deck you collect, but IF we were to implement something... I'd say do something really simple, like adding a small icon to the upper-left hand corner. About the size of the card number, y'know? Or maybe remove that corner or sommut, I don't know. But again, I don't feel it's necessary. Take a newb's opinion as you will. =3

and I think that the sp on the special cards will be really helpful. Sometimes I get confused with the normal and special cards. but at the other part I wouldn't like it because I'm lazy and then I would have to type more for the HTML and it will be more characters and LJ won't allow up to a certain number. Huh, it sounds like lots of people can't distinguish Zearth! XD; If the color isn't obvious, I hope the solid line will help... special decks have a solid white line instead of a dotted one for the border. :3

The naming convention on the special cards doesn't really affect me one way or the other. I think it would actually be more of a pain because most of us keep our cards in alphabetical order and to suddenly have sp_ there would make that a little harder.

That's something to think about too (especially since the deck name on the card would remain the same... maybe it'd even give people trouble? like... them trying to add the card as yellow01 and then ending up with a broken image for forgetting the sp_....)
