Hello everyone, and welcome back to Seiyuu Guess! Our host for this game is Shizuka, a rookie seiyuu who's still learning the tricks of the trade! She's been provided with a description, image, and clip of a certain character, and it's up to you to help her figure out who voices them.
It's my birthday on Tuesday! This time last year I did a Seiyuu Guess round featuring a series from my birth year, 1989, so I figured I'd make it a tradition and do another 1989 series this year. I would challenge myself to watch all the anime from that year, but idk if I can make it through all those sketchy-looking OVAs. (But how can I say no to something with a title like this?) Funny how different the industry is nowadays, huh?
Some say looks can be deceiving, but this girl is just as sweet and gentle as she looks. So gentle, in fact, that she follows the "gentle way" - aka judo! All her life she's been trained by her five-time judo champion grandfather, and now he's got his sights on her winning the gold in the upcoming 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. There's just one problem: she hates judo! She just wants to live a normal high school life, but no matter what she does, that "normal" life always ends up involving judo. Let's hear the clip...
"Listen carefully, [character name]. Win the Olympic gold medal, and then win the...National Achievement Award! That's why you shouldn't be infatuated with men like these!"
"Grandpa, you searched my room again, didn't you?"
"'I'm writing this letter in my room and drinking black tea. I wonder what you're doing at this moment.' Your handwriting is so curly and cutesy I can hardly read it!"
"That's cruel. You're my grandpa, and I respect you, but you shouldn't read my letters!"
"Did you make it to first or second base with that boy? You didn't go all the way home, did you?"
"Don't be ridiculous!"
"Wait a minute, [character name]. If you win an Olympic gold medal and the Achievement Award, then wonderful men will pursue you."
"Stop it! Who cares about the National Achievement Award or an Olympic gold medal? In 1992, I'll be 20 years old! Until then, what kind of youth will I have?"
"A worthwhile one."
"Since I was a child, you've been training me, but I won't be misled any longer. I want to be a normal girl. I want to fall in love like other girls. And another thing - don't you ever barge into my room again!"
You're soft! Soft and squishy, [character name]. And speaking of squishy, there should be a box of yokan left in the cupboard.
Tell Shizuka the character's name, their seiyuu, and what series they're from for six random cards and one random candy! Now that Halloween's over we'll call them birthday candies, lol.
