Colors Chat #74

Ah! Is that....? Is the camera rolling?! I believe we've spotted a super strong TCG player! Excuse me! Do you have a moment to answer some questions for us? The people want to know more about strong TCG players like yourself!
Welcome to Colors Chat, where you can chat with your fellow Colors TCG members about this round's topic! Just listen to your heart and write what you feel like. For your response, you'll receive a card rainbow! As a general rule, responses should be around 6 sentences, but if you're a little long or short that's fine as long as your response is thoughtful!
After you've responded, reply to others' answers and start up a discussion! Have fun hanging out with your fellow smart masses!
This round's topic is.... Hot weather!
It just hit 101F here! Yikes! What do you think of hot, summer weather? Do you love it? Hate it? Got any good cold drink suggestions? Got any traditions once it gets hot out? Does it just not get that hot where you are and you like/dislike that?
Please keep all comments civil and polite. You might disagree with someone, but please do not start a flame war. THANK YOU and have fun! This round closes July 8th!

They say "Oh, but it's a dry heat." It's still deadly. People can die of heatstroke even indoors if they don't drink enough water. When you can bake cookies in your car because the temps get up to 220 inside...that's absolutely ridiculous.
The only summer drink I can ever recommend during this time of the year is water, and LOTS of it.

I hope you can stay cool this summer!

Now we get solid weeks of 118 - 122, and they're coming in as early as June. Basically the population has grown out of control out here, and too much asphalt absorbing the heat during the day and it doesn't have enough time to dissipate at night before the sun is already coming back up at 4am. The past few nights it's been 104 at 11pm.
Hopefully he'll change his mind soon, though. LOL
If you're ever in the area then let me know, we can grab a coffee at a nearby Starbucks. I recommend coming out in January / February. Best time of the year! :D

Water is definitely a good summer drink, especially when you need to keep hydrated!

The only folks that last are usually the ones that come from up north where it was always frozen. They're the ones that are like "I don't care if I get skin cancer, I'm staying here and never going back to the snow." LOL

In this kind of weather anything cold tastes good, but I think nothing beats ice cold water. :9

Also, funny story, at the beginning of last week I spent a lot of time walking around in the sun which I don't do pretty often. The next day and the day after I was feeling really sluggish and awful so I was worried I might have gotten a heatstroke or something from being out in the sunlight for so long. Turns out I got sinusitis and it was completely unrelated to the sun exposure.

That is kinda funny, by the way. Hopefully your sinusitis cleared up by now though!

Sinusitis is still going unfortunately, though it's way better than it was earlier.

As for cold drink suggestions.....You can't go wrong with a sweet tea for summertime. Frozen strawberry lemonade is a personal favorite of mine as well. Iced coffee is great too!

I'm actually surprised that states like ours haven't appropriately adapted to our environment correctly. Desert living is all about sleeping during the day and being active at night. If we can't do that, why haven't we at least cultivated technology where we are building cities and metropolitan areas underground? It would make more sense in the long run.

Luckily I do not live near the equator so it is not often that the weather goes above 100°F/38°C! But anything above 75°F/24°C is already too hot for me! My ideal temperature would be a consistent 50°F/10°C in which I could sit comfortably in a pile of warm blankets!

On the other hand I seem to be perfectly fine in very cold weather and can comfortably withstand below freezing temperatures for hours in a light jacket!

Summer drinks? If you're under the drinking age (or if you just don't like alcohol)--Pina Coladas (minus the booze) are always good!

(Ooooh, I didn't know you could make virgin pina coladas. Now I wanna try that!)

i have quite a big room but for some reason it gets really hot whenever its warm outside, and since i have a friend living with me at the moment it gets doubly hot.. so to combat this we put a frozen bottle of water infront of the fan to circulate the cold air. it works pretty well! tho at night time when we have to turn the fan off because its too loud we still melt x_x
