  Small Fandoms  

Talk to me about those series you love that no one else seems to have heard of! You track the tumblr tag but it only updates once a month at best; you prowl Ao3 but you've read all the fics a dozen times over. Tell me about those rare and unappreciated series you wish more people were a fan of—maybe someone here will give one a try!

If you aren't a fan of any lesser-known series or series with small fandoms, tell me why they don't appeal to you. Do you prefer to have a large selection of fan-produced media to peruse, or do you just enjoy sharing the love with many other fans? Let us know!

One small fandom love of mine is Tokyo Akazukin (Tokyo Red Hood) which is um...a manga series that starts off with a fairly sex scene with a 30-ish year old man and a 12 year old (in appearance girl), who then brutally murders the guy because he wouldn't literally eat her and is not her wolf. She then gets chased by police and chunks of her head and body blown off and then CONTINUES BEING TERRIFYING ANYWAY. IT IS ONE OF THOSE SERIES...

It's kind of hard to recommend since the premise is a reincarnated girl stuck at age 12 forever is sleeping with older men in an attempt to find her wolf so he could devour her, and the series is thus full of lolicon, gore and some 'rape as fetish' scenes. It also has a four-armed cute megane assassin, a tough Italian butcher who specializes in human meat, sex-based cults, and conversion of male incubi by turning the tables (thus the 'rape as fetish' content warning).

FOR UNDERSTANDABLE REASONS, THIS FANDOM IS QUITE SMALL and it's hard to recommend people give it a shot because of both the content and the sometimes unclear story-telling, but it is one of my favorite manga series out there.

Ah. I know this one. I read it when I was ~16, so it's been a while. I've been trying to remember its name for a few years, but I only could think of Akazukin ChaCha, which... is a little bit different... I guess it's time to give it another go now that I can finally find it again. It's been haunting me all these years.
