pretty much all my ships involve best friends, childhood friends, or king-knight relationships. i LOVE friend ships where the characters are long-time close friends whose relationship progresses smoothly to romance -- like, they start dating For Real, but they were already basically married, so there's no actual change in their relationship. i like "they seem like an old married couple" ships in general!
as far as familial relationships go, families that have been separated/experienced abandonment always interest me. it's nice when series explore feelings of abandonment and resentment as well as relief and happiness when families reunite, rather than focusing solely on "we're together now so everything's alright"; physical and emotional distance in families can be really difficult, so i'm glad to see parent-child or sibling-sibling relationships where the "abandoned" party has mixed feelings instead of the more straightforward "completely happy ending" option.
uhh specific ships....... i recently watched the gundam age memory of eden ova, which takes the second story arc of the series and turns it into a two hour romantic drama about asemu asuno and zeheart galette. zeheart is supposed to be spying on asemu and becomes friends with him for that purpose, but they end up becoming genuinely close friends, to the point that they're still deeply emotional over each other 20+ years later. even after ultimately betraying asemu, zeheart is still concerned for his best friend's well-being, and tries to persuade him not to fight because he doesn't want to hurt him (and because he knows asemu is too kind and gentle for war). at one point, they get into a situation where they work together to stop a disaster, and they're convinced that they're both going to die in the process......... so in what they believe are their last moments, they talk about how much they care about each other and how they still see each other as friends and respect each other, even though they've been fighting..... and then they smile and hold hands........ yeah......... ... . . .. . . . . . ship
