COLORS CHAT #3

again by the lovely Casey. hey look at me go i'm on time wow.

It's time to sit back, relax, and pour yourself and ice cold glass of... milk. All these games are so great and fun but everyone needs a chance to just unwind and talk. So welcome to Colors Chat!

Here, you will get a topic and you can talk about it all you want. For cards, however, your initial post will need to be six sentences. Just listen to your heart and write what you feel like. For your six sentences, you'll get 5 cards. And you should always go around and talk to people, see if you can make new friends or old friends with new light on them or you know, just talk with everyone! As a bonus everyone who talks with someone else will get 2 pieces of candy! Yay!

Today's topic:

What new animes are you hoping pop up? What kind of story line, setting, characters, and creatures would you like to see? Are there video games you hope will become animes some day?

Please keep all comments civil and polite. You might disagree with someone, but please do not start a flame war. THANK YOU and enjoy your Saturday!

Yessss. ;; Especially since the further we get, the more I realize that they put all the necessary foreshadowing into the anime; they even kept the extra with Kosen in! They really could just go from there, and it makes me sad to think that there won't be any more.

I don't really watch a lot of new anime. But I would prefer less moe because that is so not my thing and it is so dang popular. I'd like to see more like Free, where I can get some fun eye candy but genuine characterization and cute story lines. Although I always prefer dark story lines and frenemies and possessions. I also love villains with really compelling reasons to be villains. I have no real opinion on setting. Also, Xenogears would totally make a better anime than Xenosaga. |D It's almost an anime already!

Tbh, the only animes I'm hoping will pop up more are ones that have an interesting story-line, fantastic world-building, a great cast of characters, and none of the moe and harem elements. It turns me off so much whenever I find an anime with all of these, and then they end up having moe and harem slapped on there. :/

And I've never really entertained the thought of video games getting animated, since it's a "your mileage may vary thing", but sometimes I think of what it would be like if Metal Gear Rising got animated, haahaha. It's a silly thought though, so I don't dwell on it too much. However, I'd be pretty stoked if there was like a short anime showcasing the lives of the Desperado members before they became cyborgs!

Also, I'm pretty excited that Bayonetta is getting an anime! The trailer looked fantastic, so it's one of the only things I'm looking forward to!

I actually have a REALLY short attention span when it comes to watching anime (and it's even shorter when broken up into weeks; I prefer marathoning), so I tend to focus more on video games or manga (/)(\) I think the only series I managed to watch as it was airing was Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, whoops.

But it would be nice to get more like the Princess Resurrection OVA or some kind of adaptation of Nakua-Den by the same studio. The OVA was fab for now bowdlerizing the violence like the anime did, hah :P Though I seem to be, like, one of five people who actually likes Princess Resurrection, sob.

I don't really have expectations for anime. I just see what's coming up for the season, read their reviews and decide. I am quite new to the anime world so I'm still watching old-school stuff like Bleach, Ranma 1/2 and Naruto. Then again, I'm trying to be open to new animes except if it's too hentai-y (LOL). For example, thought I'd hate sports anime but when I watched Kuroko no Basuke, dude, I was so hooked I couldn't stop to save my life.

Ehrm, not really since I don't play enough video games to know. I heard SAO is based off an MMO or something like that and I still have yet to watch it.

All the anime I want to see are the ones that are constantly dangled in front of me in the form of fake anime season charts, but will never actually happen: a remake (and/or season 2) for Baccano!, Yotsuba&!, Darker Than Black season 3 and so on and so forth. I'm really hyped for the third Puella Magi Madoka Magica movie right now, I get to go see it in theaters in December!

Aside from the above, I really don't lean too strongly towards any one kind of anime in particular. I like a wide variety. Sometimes I even surprise myself with what I wind up getting into! As long as an anime is good, I'll probably like it. There aren't any video games that I really want to see become an anime. I enjoy video games in the format they're told and rarely follow anime adaptations, so.

I don't watch a whole lot of anime. Not at all, really, in fact the only animes I watched with any regularity and finished were Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Dangan Ronpa: the Animation.

I watched a little bit of Devil Survivor 2: the Animation but that veered off in some weird direction, and I watched a little bit of Sword Art Online and a little bit of Attack on Titan...

I can't say that I haven't been mildly interested in Inazuma Eleven for some time, though, because of RP CR.

As far as upcoming shows... who else is looking forward to Mekakucity Actors? I'd have waited until that was out to grab more images for the Dan but a lot of other people seemed to want to get their decks out...

And for that matter it's basically a foregone conclusion* that Super Dangan Ronpa 2 isn't getting an anime. (*This actually means that the thing you're talking about won't happen!) And I'll be watching that when it comes out, too.

Can I say heck yes I want this?

I actually greatly prefer manga to anime and don't watch anime a lot anymore, but I know what I would like, at least! I love series with a lot of women in them and almost no dudes, especially if there's yuri possibilities. Something like Madoka, for example, only less, uh, bloody and frightening. Actually, I'm reading this manga called Centaur's Worries right now that would make a great anime. It's quirky and fun and I think the slice of life thing would do really well as an anime. Give me less moe and more badass lesbians, I'd tune into that show every week. I've heard Simoun would be good for that and I'm hoping to watch it sometime soon.

There's this one visual novel I really want to become an anime -- some have heard me gush endlessly about it, but it really would make an amazing anime. It's called Muv-Luv, and one of the branch stories (Total Eclipse) had an anime made for it, but... it was admittedly not that good, which is disappointing because NOW WHAT IF THEY DON'T MAKE THE MAIN SERIES??? :(

But then again, adaptations from visual novels to anime tend not to actually work very well based on all the information from the VN that has to be cut out or changed. A lot of the Type-Moon anime adaptations suffer from this (Tsukihime anime? what Tsukihime anime?), and while Higurashi no Naku Koro ni was good as a standalone series, there was also a lot of extra information that got cut out that was present in the games.

...I'll admit that outside of light novel/video game/VN adaptations, I don't watch a lot of anime these days, though. I take peeks at the season upcoming lists that come out, but very little has ever struck my interest to the point that I'm driven to watch it.

Also, you know what else we need? An Ace Attorney anime. How the fuck has that not been a thing yet? (Oh wait, Capcom hates the franchise, I forgot. :x)

[personal profile] prisma 2013-11-04 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
SAO is based off a light novel series! Which I hear continues after the anime leaves off, and is apparently better than the anime -- but that's the case with most source material for anime, I suppose.

I think going in with no predetermined expectations is really the best way to decide, as long as you don't let the reviewers' opinions influence yours too much. I feel like a lot of people go in expecting what they watch to be this, that, and the other, and it tends to color their final judgment of it. It's kinda refreshing to hear someone say they're watching old school stuff too, actually. XD

A Yotsuba&! anime would be so fantastic I can't think of enough words to describe how much I want this to actually happen.

The first thing to come to mind was an Ace Attorney anime (as mentioned above). XD A 999 one would be neat (I can see it being similar to how Steins;Gate is portrayed).

I'm more of a manga person because my preferred genres are mystery/psychological, but when it comes to anime, I tend to love the shonen ACTION FIGHT SCENE types because I love seeing those sequences come to life. There are plenty of those around already though, haha. That said, I just finished watching Free! (from start to finish, within 24 hours) and I have no idea why I was just glued to the screen throughout. Okay, so I kind of have an idea. I guess when it comes to manga, I appreciate it for the plot, but for anime it's mostly PLOT WHAT PLOT JUST SHOW ME AMAZING MOVING THINGS. XD;;

I have been hoping for a Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side anime (or three) for 6 years. Any of those actually being animated is so unlikely it's not even funny anymore ;_;... The games itself are pretty popular in Japan and they just celebrated TMGS 10th year anniversary, so this is the time when they might make one, if ever... but even if they did animate something TMGS related, it would most likely be the new Tokimeki Restaurant, which I'm not interested in at all. Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2nd kiss or 3rd Story anime would make my life a lot better, but yeah, I doubt one will ever be made. I'm still going to keep hoping...! The PS version opening videos for TMGS3 and TMGS2 are animated and made me crave for more. /weeps for eternity

I'm also really hoping for Gakuen Babysitters to be animated. I have no idea how popular it is in Japan, but all I know is that it's super good and it deserves to get animated.

As for new series that aren't based on anything pre-existing... Magical boys. Actually seriously magical boys, with transformations and all. Shugo Chara is probably the only series I've seen that has magical boys and it's a shame. If I remember right, Houkago no Pleiades might have one magical boy too, but... I want a team of cute magical boys fighting against evil forces etc.

I'm always on the look out for more series that have good plot, in-depth character development, and it doesn't hurt to have a bit of female fan-service (or bits of shounen ai). I admit to avoiding some shows just due to the number of females in the cast just to avoid the male fan-service.

I also have a tendency to get attached to different sports animes, though I've only seem to pick up one series per sport. I'm not really that athletic but I just love watching them. As strange as it is I think I've learned more about sports from watching anime than any other place. Sports that I don't have anything for yet and would be interested in watching are: track and field, billiards, archery, cricket, rugby, volleyball and horse racing.

I say this every single time the subject comes up, but why isn't Hana-Kimi an anime omg I need it to be an anime!!! Stop making live action dramas and start making a billion-episode long anime accurate to the manga, haha.

An anime for 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors would be super cool too. It's not my usual genre, but maybe it'd make a good mystery/suspense series (probably only 12 episodes but whatevs). Or they could expand from the game(s) I haven't played the sequel yet boo because I really like the characters, but who knows how that would turn out.

I'm actually surprised there isn't more anime related to Final Fantasy games? You think since Square Enix has its hands in everything at this point.... OH, NO, I WANT A KINGDOM HEARTS ANIME, THAT WOULD BE FABULOUS.

yoooo I would be all over a remake/sequel/continuance of Baccano! like who do I have to offer up my firstborn to in order to make that happen. It wouldn't even be hard to do, they have all of the light novels they can just adapt they don't even have to think up anything new. /cries because it'll never happen

On the other hand, given the hot mess that was the Legend of the Crystals anime, I'm a little glad there's not more anime based on Final Fantasy games...

i just wanted more adventures with my favorite loser bartz I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR FANSERVICE SHOTS OF THIS GIRL'S BUTT GLOWING

ahaha yeah true, we also got The Spirits Within, like who thought that was a good idea at all. so CAVEAT: I MEAN ONLY GOOD FINAL FANTASY ANIME

second caveat: what i really mean is anime for either ff8 or ff12 forget the rest of this series those two are where it's at
estamir: (Default)

[personal profile] estamir 2013-11-05 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
I should perhaps...play those two to completion...

6 was my favorite when I was younger but the older I get the more 5 occupies a place that nothing else can take in my heart. Unless Tactics counts, in which case nothing can compete at all because I think I've sunk as many hours into FFT alone as into half my game collection put together.
