♠ The body of the fic:

In the wake of Halloween, everything was unusually silent. Midori blamed the handmade candies they'd all been trusting enough to eat; at least there hadn't been any more drastic side effects yet.

Or maybe it was just the sugar crash.

Midori stumbled into the kitchen at 10:30, when it became apparent that the proper amount of noise wasn't going to be starting up again anytime soon. She found Mikan-tan sitting on a chair, a surprisingly orderly semi-circle of candy wrappers arranged in front of her and an orange slice in her mouth. Mikan-tan didn't appear to be eating so much as holding the orange there with her teeth, and Midori couldn't see the rest of the orange anywhere, but this wasn't the kind of day to ask prying questions.

It was, however, a day to have a very light breakfast.

She finished up her toast and found herself yawning again. "Do you know what Gin-sensei put into these?" she asked, finally, because Mikan-tan hadn't moved.

Mikan-tan solemnly removed the orange slice from her mouth. "He said he wanted to get some work done."

That wasn't really an answer, Midori thought, but it was enough of one. She nodded and stumbled blearily back upstairs to turn on her music at the highest volume she could manage to sleep through with her earplugs in. Before she got back into bed, though, she snagged another of those delicious chocolate lollipops Gin-sensei had distributed. Dosed or not, they tasted great.
