Hey everyone! We're down to the last week or so of Advent! Today we've got a discussion topic:

Best of 2024!

I don't know about y'all, but 2024 has certainly had some rather rough patches for me. I can tell I'm getting old because most of them were physical lmao. (Kidney stone? F---, would not recommend.) But in amongst all the bad, there was still plenty of good! So let's focus on the positive and talk about the best things you experienced in 2024! The best movie you watched, the best manga you read, the best album you listened to, the best game you played, the best thing you ate, the best place you visited - anything goes! For me...



Best anime I watched: Pluto, Horus: Prince of the Sun, Overtake!
Best book I read: Night and Day by Virginia Woolf
Best fic I read: One Week by JaneTurenne, Blind by FloraOne (fair warning: both R18)
Best music I listened to: 2024 introduced me to Scriabin - The Poem of Ecstasy and Piano Concerto in F sharp minor in particular. And a shout-out to my top three at this year's Eurovision: Lithuania, Ireland, and Portugal!
Best random encounter: A lost bulldog named Poot who hung out with us all day until we could reunite him with his owner - a sweetheart who did indeed live up to his name, lmao
Best moment in figure skating: Rino Matsuike's free skate from Skate Canada (I'll still be going on about how incredible this was on my deathbed) with honorable mentions to Wakaba Higuchi's comeback (her GP France free brought me to literal tears, we're so Wakaback) and Amber Glenn finally putting it all together
Best Colors moment: I've now got 500 crayons of each color on hand! Maybe in 2025 I'll finally use some of them lmao. Also, donating Reverse: 1999 decks, which turned out beautifully (thanks Aru!). I've got donations for everybody in the works; I should have time over the holidays to put the finishing touches on some of them!
