I could go with the obvious and talk about the redhead that's plastered all over my everything, but that would be too easy. So, one of my favorite characters is actually Ennis from Baccano!. She's a brilliant mix of skill and social awkwardness, rolled up in a ball of humanity issues. Though Narita is adverse to letting his characters grow and she's remained largely stagnant as a result, the development she does get is fantastic and it's really fun to watch her interact with the other players in the series. I've grown fond of the mock-family bonds that her and Czes have the potential to share.
Which leads directly into my unfavorite male... Firo. He's a terrible character, and a terrible example of a "Nice Guy" who gets the girl because he's nice enough to only be incredibly passive aggressive and throw private tantrums when she proves not to immediately respond to his affections. The extent to which his living with a woman he's lusting after is romanticized is incredibly uncomfortable to me. That's simple decency and far more decent would to not be living with someone who couldn't properly parse or respond to those feelings. It doesn't get any better when one considers that their marriage was formed when she still can't even look at herself as being near human, or that he can't even touch her... But again, romanticized, and it's really creepy. When you add that to Firo's edgelord actions and the poor attempts at making him a main character, I really can't stand him.
