Advent Calendar Day 10

Hey, Colors! Day 10 is here, and for today's discussion we'll be talking about mass decks and series collections! Are you collecting all of the decks from any series? Do you have any mass decks? ...Do you have many? When you create a mass deck, do you collect every character from a series, or just your favourites? How do you decide which series to mass collect? Do you have any mass decks that are based around a more general/cross-series theme - i.e. tarot, hair colours, RP teams, etc.?

I actually had no idea what a mass deck was when I started (just got here end of October), I thought it was something more "formal", like how portfolios are, though from observing I think I ended up with the beginning of a pokemon mass deck, by the time I figured it out! Now that section's gotten hefty enough that I took a cue from some other folks' card posts and I am setting up a pokemon-only deck page so I can organize everything to my liking. My HTML-fu is weak but luckily I understand enough to rearrange the card post code I started with.

I'm not super systematic so I just have been grabbing every pokemon deck I have seen, only ignoring some anime characters because I never watch the anime, so it's all in relation to the games for me!

Not sure what my next theme would be. I may start collecting animal decks :D

I am, it seems, becoming rapidly addicted to mass decks. I have nine at the minute and at least five more planned. Any series that I outright love is likely to become one just because of how much I get obsessed with the shows or games that I like.

Right now I have mass decks for Angel Sanctuary, Cardcaptor Sakura, Corpse Party, Danganronpa/SDR2, Drakengard/Nier, Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Resident Evil, Sailor Moon and all seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh! with ones for SMT, Fate, Kara no Kyoukai, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni and Umineko no Naku Koro Ni planned.

When I collect them, I'm a bit over-the-top; even if I don't like a character, or outright loathe them, I'll collect their decks for completionist's sake. At most I'll count them as low priority unless I have the chance to get a lot of their cards at once.

But... I have to say, while I've considered making some, I kind of have trouble getting invested in "theme" mass decks. It's the same reason I tend to avoid scrapbooks. If I did, I'd probably make one for my RP characters, and one for white-haired villains (or just white haired males?), but I just feel awkward about it.

I became addicted to mass decks as soon as I started (even though I just started at the end of September!), and once I saw the number of KHR decks there were. I currently have 12 mass decks at the moment and about 3 more planned, though I'm focusing of KHR at the moment.

Now I have mass decks for Katekyo Hitman REBORN! (KHR), Kamigami no Asobi, Daiya no Ace, Haikyuu!!, Darker than Black, Fairy Tail, Kuroko no Basket, Pokemon, Ao no Exorcist, D. Gray-man, Vampire Knight, and Final Fantasy VII. I also have plans for mass decks for Detective Conan, Bleach and Naruto.

As to whether I collect all of them or just my favorites really depend on the series, but all the characters have to fit into some category, like Sky Flame Users & Cloud Flame Users for KHR or Greek Gods & Norse Gods for Kamigami no Asobi, I'm OC like that and have to have subcategories for all my mass decks. I also tend to collect any specials associated with the series as well as all scrapbook cards with characters from the series.

The only mass deck for which I plan to collect all of the characters is KHR. For sports anime like Daiya no Ace, Haikyuu!!, and Kuroko no Basket, I'm only collecting the team players. For Darker than Black, Fairy Tail, Ao no Exorcist, D. Gray-man, Vampire Knight, and Final Fantasy VII, I'm only collecting characters that fit into the subcategories. For Pokemon, I'm only collecting certain specials like Sparkling.

As for themed decks, I'm considering making one for Scrapbooks, but since I have other mass decks planned (all three have quite a few decks!), it's the last thing on my list for now.

Hahahahahahahhahahah I currently have 18 mass decks (three of which have been completed in their entirety!) and I've already started coding pages for at least another 6... Oops. It's safe to say that I love mass decks. I collect all of the characters from each series, even if I don't care much for them, mostly because it doesn't feel like a proper mass deck to me if there are characters missing.

I think I'd I eventually like to do a CLAMP mass deck too... Although now that I am looking at a list of decks, there would be at least 50 decks in the mass deck. I'm not sure if I'm THAT insane. Perhaps doing mass decks of some of my other favourite manga-ka, like Kaori Yuki and Ai Yazawa, would be a bit more feasible. Oh, I also want to donate all decks of the Samurai 7 characters, so that's another mass deck I'll be doing in the future. Like I need any more to collect.

I have several mass decks, mostly based off of videogames but also the Colors Universe because I couldn't say no to rainbows. And then Hetalia as a passive collection (meaning I won't focus on these using choice cards/crayons) because I think there's some sort of beauty is watching a world fill up c:

Usually, I do collect all the characters from the series, because it wouldn't be a complete collection then! Also because I don't have many miscellaneous decks I'm collecting outside of mass decks, so it gives me something to work on, and the sense of completion is always wonderful.

I'm collecting so many Suikoden decks, it'd be a mass deck for most of my other fandoms, but I'm actually picking and choosing my favorites...I just have a lot of favorites! 8D I do have a page just for the McDohl household, but I've had all those decks as a priority so it's mostly for show.

The other series I have mass decks for are Gankutsuou, Shin Sekai Yori, Scrapped Princess, K-ON!, and Simoun. I'm also collecting all the decks for Ranma 1/2, Hataraku Maou-sama!, and Suisei no Gargantia, but I'm not committed to collecting all the decks in the first two series, and SnG only has three decks, two of which I've mastered already. |D; So I only do mass decks for series where I like all the characters and I'm also excited to collect the decks. Gankutsuou is my highest priority mass deck, though, and I'm debating adding more characters, but aside from Fernand, I have all my favorites accounted for. (But if anyone else is interested in someone, I'm happy to donate more characters!)

My main mass decks ATM are yugioh cards. because of course they are.
I dont have the general mass deck layout like a lot of people have, but I have a keep pile of just Yugioh cards for that hahaha.

When I get thought a lot of yugioh, I plan on mass collecting the Ryuusei no Rockman (or just Rockman in general) decks.

when I do mass decks, Its every character from Every series of that topic. (Every Yugioh, Every Rockman...) no hate!

I have six mass decks! Four that are currently active and two which I've completed — Evangelion, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Cardcaptor Sakura, Macross Frontier, Free!, and Star Driver. When I collect a mass deck, I have to actually like every single character in that series, regardless if it's hardcore stanning for a particular character or simply appreciating their presence without being a fan of them. The only exception is the Macross Frontier mass deck because I adore the show this much, even if I deliberately left out a certain green-haired moeblob from it because I don't like her.

I never do themes, but I might do a cats collection where I keep any cat cards, regardless if I don't know the canon they're from... but it'll only happen in the near future. I love cats, okay?

I love mass decks. I have twelve right now, sob.

I have to collect everyone, because if I pick and choose characters then that, to me, isn't a mass deck anymore, it's just regular collecting. The exception is that for mass decks that are based on large, wide-spanning franchises with multiple sub-series or unconnected installments (as many video games tend to be), I won't collect the ones I haven't played yet - but I will collect every deck from every game in the series that I have played to completion, or at least played enough of to feel some investment in. (I've been going back and forth forever on whether to add Megaman ZX to my Megaman mass deck, because I've played some but not a ton, so I can't decide whether it qualifies...)

So this is why my Final Fantasy mass deck is missing Compilation-only FFVII characters (don't give a crap and will probably never play them) and a few of the regular installments (need to play through VIII and IX properly before it feels right to collect them...but I will probably never collect XIII because I have no interest in playing it). And why my Fire Emblem mass deck is everything but Awakening. (I'll get around to it someday...)

I don't have any themed collections going at the moment, but I've thought of starting a couple if I make enough progress on everything else to want something new to chase after - all of the color-themed scrapbook decks, or maybe (if we finish getting decks for every month) the full year of birthday scrapbooks. My other thought is doing a samurai series mass deck for ALL OF THE SAMURAI, not just the series I'm personally invested in, but when I think about how many that would be, I figure that's something for a day far away when I've really not got much else left to work on, sob...

I really like mass decks, I haven't even gotten close to finishing any but it kind of gives me a concrete goal to focus on. So far I have three high priority ones (Touhou Project, Free! and Hatoful Boyfriend) and two medium priority ones (Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea and Keroro Gunsou), although I'd like to start decks for the Zero Escape series and Arakawa under the Bridge too.

Naturally Touhou Project is the one I've made the most progress on since I started it pretty much as soon as I joined and I'd say in terms of priority it's my absolute highest. Hatoful Boyfriend comes in at a close second since I finished the game last month so I'm still in that new fandom buzz. I'm hoping the master narcoleptic and redscarf by the end of the month, since I got lucky in Switch it Up and managed to get a decent start. The Free! mass deck is still pretty empty but it'll get there, I guess those cards are pretty popular so they're harder to collect.

For my high-priority mass decks I recently gave them their own pages and I'm sure it'll look really impressive when I've mastered all of them. I tried to arrange them by colour so it forms kind of a gradient but I don't think it works so well when you only have three at a time.

I like mass decks. It's neat seeing what people are collecting because they like something so much.

I have a Tales of Innocence 'mass deck' with all the characters in the game and its remake as well as a few specials that features them. This is only the real mass deck that I'm collecting everything of besides my Moto Hagio which is rather small and not really close to being completed.

In addition to those, I have Kingdom Hearts, Nier, and Suikoden mass decks. They are not to any sort of intense level of me collecting them all, however. With the KH and Suikoden mass decks, they're only umbrellas of, like, one game and even then I am collecting decks of those series that aren't being included in the mass decks. On the other hand, the only Nier deck I'm not collecting for the time being is brother Nier.

I'm considering a Terra E or just a... Keiko Takemiya mass deck at some point in the future. And a Shaman King mass deck keeps bouncing around as an idea as well.

Ahahahahaha mass decks, oh mass decks.... I have 19 mass decks at the moment, and I'm sure more will pop up in the future. I'm absolutely terrible with mass decks, I've gone as far as decorating my decks with pretty banners for the page, and background pictures for each deck. Behold the glory that is my Megaman Mass Deck. Terrifying, amirite? Even now I'm still considering ways to make this page even prettier. ~~I have some serious devotion to the Megamans.~~

For a majority of my mass decks, I collect every single character within the series regardless of if I even know or like them. Case in point, the Megaman Legends decks. Know nothing about those guys. Collect them anyways. Also for Megaman, and my Inazumas, I will donate every last character I possibly can, even the mom of a soccer shounen. Yep. Those three mass decks will just get worse with time.

The Fate/ series is pretty extensive though, and I'm not nearly as dedicated, so I've limited myself to Fate/Zero decks, which will probably soon extend to encompass Fate/stay night decks as well.

As for cross-series themed mass decks... I don't really do them. I used to have a Haven themed mass deck where I collected decks of characters I had CR with, but I dismantled it when I dropped from Haven. Other than that, I've been thinking about creating an animals mass deck... just because I keep seeing animal decks everywhere.

I'm not a mass deck person because it feels like my card post would become out of control once I start - haha. Before I rejoined I use to collect all the Detective Conan decks, I never really thought of it as a mass deck collection though. If I had to start a mass deck, I would collect all the .hack// decks. * A*

Oh gosh. I definitely have a Mass Deck Problem. Even with only four/five 'listed' mass decks (Utena, Sailor Moon, Baccano, DRAMAtical Murder, Sekirei -- almost done that last one!) I am quietly collecting all the decks from various series, just at lower priorities. Annnd then I'm collecting all the rp teammates from Aather for teams I've been on -- and Aather's been around a few years now with weekly placements...

Someday I'll get through you all, Mass Decks. Someday. (And then start new ones, probably.)

I actually have this huge list of mass decks to eventually collect, but for the sake of my sanity I've only made a couple of them right now (since I hand-code every single page to get the look I want). At present, the only mass decks I have active are the Mega Man, Sonic, and Trauma Center mass decks, but once I can actually work myself up to it I plan to add Pokemon, Shin Megami Tensei, Shaman King, Zelda, Mario, and Yu-Gi-Oh!, though the latter I'll only be collecting from the original and the GX seasons (and possibly Arc-V), since the other seasons haven't drawn me at all. And these are just a handful of what I plan to make eventually -- I can't remember them all off the top of my head.

I'm also making a "stray" mass deck, for characters that are from series that I don't really care about that much but who I've roleplayed against that I super enjoy (like Marco, Smoker, and Ace from One Piece), but I haven't gotten that one up yet, either.

As of nooooooow I have not yet completed any of mine :U Black Rock Shooter, KEY trio, K-On, Strike Witches, Rozen Maiden, Tokyo Mew Mew, and Touhou Project. unsurprisingly the SW one has been the easiest since, like. One other person is looking for them fdkjadh. Even if I don't particularly like the character I will add it to my mass deck for completion's sake oops (see: seaeagle deck) I am also doing bigger mass deck for a short-term rp I was in, since there were only 30 characters and some of them weren't even from Eastern sources I figured it'd be doable.

I have too many mass decks but I regret none.

My biggest and main mass deck is still The Prince of Tennis, which I keep adding decks to... so I'll never finish it. Even if I'm proud of the progress so far. It was also my very first mass deck, so it's very dear to me. The others kind of just... appeared after.

My personal goal is to collect all characters from a series, even if I wouldn't necessarily like them. I have a few decks I'd normally not collect, but for mass decks, I will. That's also a basis on my mass decks; if there are too many characters I dislike, I won't do a mass deck. That's why even if I seem to collect a lot from one particular series, it just might not get a mass deck for that purpose. Also, less than five decks is a bit on the borderline if I can call it a mass deck or not.

Ah yeah I've got a bunch. I'll collect mass decks for series I really love, though some series I enjoy an average amount have so many characters that just collecting my favorites is basically like collecting a mass deck, haha. For some series I'll collect all the characters but only prioritize my favorite characters. I haven't completed any of my big ones yet, but my Persona 3/4 collection is allllmost done. Luckily for me some of my "mass" decks only have 4 or 5 decks in them because that's all there are, so they're like mini mass decks.

I have 4 active (Pokemon, which I had to split in two, Madoka Magica, Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick) and 2 completed mass decks (Spiral and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. I might still donate some minor characters to these at some point). I might add Corpse party as well (I think I'm already collecting all the decks...) and maybe Danganronpa (if I can ignore my hate for Monokuma and Saionji. Right now I can't.), Ouran or Furuba. And an RP mass deck, but I'm talking about it later.

For me to consider taking a new mass deck, I have to like each character at least a bit, or just love the series as a whole enough to ignore the pain of collecting some hated ones. (I'm looking at you, Spiral and Kiyotaka...) I just can't justify calling something a mass deck, if I'm not after EVERYTHING there is. All the characters, individual specials and even scrapbooks, if the mastery badge is from the series.

I guess my Pokemon mass deck might be considered a contradiction to what I just said. But its split is kinda the same as what Sammich said above; I've not actively followed the anime in years, but I'm a huge fan of the games. I consider the games, manga and anime as different series, even though they have big similarities. I might someday add the anime only characters as well if I'm running out of things to collect. But since if I don't even know the character, it just doesn't feel right.

I've never had a themed mass deck. I have considered two though; Animals and RP. I love animals and collect quite many already. But there's so many I don't know at all, that I think this won't ever happen. The RP mass deck is another story. I've mastered most of the characters I personally RP already, but I thought of collecting all the characters from a Finnish RP Celestial. It would mean something like... 250 characters at the moment. x_x I'm collecting many of them already and I'm keeping all the random cards I get. But I'm still not sure. I think I want to concentrate on my own favorites first, before I take that challenge.

I'm collecting a Monogatari mass deck! I think it's exciting, hahaha. I love seeing everyone all together, LOL. I'm just starting out one at a time, but eventually I'll probably do more mass decks. I would probably collect everyone, unless there was a specific character I hated. I never thought about hair colors and that kind of thing though, that's a good idea!

I'm mass decking a few series! mainly ones that are dear to my heart and that I love with a severe passion. I'm collecting: One piece, Xenoblade, Xenosaga, HxH, Slayers, and Resident Evil. I would mass deck more, but I'm trying to keep the cards I want low. I'm super failing at that, since OP tends to get decks a lot of the time! :3

I SURE DO HAVE MASS DECKS. I'm actually really close to finishing my Gundam Wing mass deck, which is a pretty big mass deck because of all the characters. I usually collect all the characters from a series, but depending on the series I'll get picky about it. And really mass decking depends on the characters available deckwise. I've also done pairings and RP teams. Though at this rate I might need to do a theme of prettiness someday.
