There's a lot of horror games that I recommend to people. The Fatal Frame series, Haunting Ground and Rule of Rose are high up on the list. I've also recommended a lot of RPG maker games, as they tend to be short, but well made and fun to play through. I've also given a lot of recommendations for Bravely Default. It's one of the few RPGs that I could not put down. That claim has gotten to be a lot more impressive in recent years.

Aside from that, I think I'm usually the one getting recommendations. I tend to be slow on the uptake of games, so my friends tend to get to them long before me. Though if I had to mention one that needs more love, it really is Rule of Rose. Super obscure game, shaky combat, but flawless storytelling.
