Don't be mad, Colors friends! Today's anniversary post is a discussion post, and the topic should elucidate my banner choice for you all!

So we all love collecting decks, right? Of course we do, why else would we be here. And we love our manga, our anime, our video games and visual novels and digital pop idols and so forth. But do you ever find yourself looking at something and thinking 'darn, if only that qualified for Colors. I'd love a deck of that'. Well, this is your time to lament for all to see! Tell us all about...

The card decks that can never be ;_;

This is for your western animation, for your live action, for your book characters who don't even have images, for your favourite Pony or even just that one side character who will never have enough images no matter what you do. Tell me about the decks you'd love to collect if only Colors were different! Or maybe every single character you could ever want is already in Colors, you lucky ridiculous person. If so, tell us about that instead!

(note: this is all hypothetical, of course. Don't worry or wonder if anything is changing with Colors submittable content any time soon, because that isn't the case! )

I WANT DECKS FOR THE WALKING DEAD GAME AUGH. I just finished season one last night and it was SOOOOOO GOOD that all I want to do now is make deck mockups and pretend I can collect them instead of doing my real work. Come to think of it, all of Telltale's games would fit in well at Colors. I haven't played The Wolf Among Us, but Sam and Max decks would be pretty fantastic. I don't watch a whole lot of Western TV, but I could get behind House of Cards decks too. Mainly Telltale though, mainly Telltale ;_;

Completely missed the choice card... I'd like Gymnast16 please!

OH GOSH I DON'T KNOW.... there's not enough images for a lot of my favorite Fire Emblems, for one... I would donate and collect them all if it were the case. But there's pretty much 3 pictures of most of them, even counting the mangas (ACTUALLY, maybe I could get Chad made ahaha.). I'm also a big fan of a handful of webcomics. CLEARLY WE MUST HAVE CUCUMBER QUEST DECKS BECAUSE THAT IS VALID. And Order of the Stick decks! Although that canon is a stick figure comic, so I mean... those cards would be pretty boring looking, yeah. I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS SO PASSIONATE ABOUT ANY OF THIS BEFORE THIS POST JEEZ.

Oh no, Telltale decks would be amazing ;; Their games are so full of wonderful expressive characters! If Walking Dead or Sam and Max decks were possible I would collect them all in a heartbeat.

I read so many books, and I'd love to see decks for them. Partially because that would imply so much art existed. Seriously, hundreds of pages of material turned into an anime or manga would have enough art, but the fact it's prose (and written by someone outside of East Asia) means all the art exists in my head.

I find that the only time this affects me is with video games. It's really cool to see Resident Evil and Dynasty Warriors decks, but there's a lot of games that can't be submitted! Firstly, because they are western sources, and secondly because they aren't even anime, just animated. For example, I would LOVE to collect decks for characters From Borderlands and Borderlands 2, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, Halo, CoD, Gears of War etc. I would just love it. But at the same time, if that did happen, it wouldn't be just decks from anime anymore and I'd hate that too xD

I don't know. Even OotS's old style is moderately expressive, and the new stuff is looking pretty sweet.

I would love decks from western animated shows like Avatar or Adventure Time. Embarrassingly enough, sometimes I find myself wondering why there aren't any decks from them because I forget that there's a difference between them and anime... But ultimately, even though they would be nice, I'm not torn up about those shows not being eligible for Colors. There's plenty of collecting here already!

Ducking in here to answer a question before uploading a fair backlog of cards is a good idea and I won't hear anyone say otherwise! In my case, there are two games in particular I'd love to collect decks for that WOULD qualify for Colors, but are just not doable for decks because there's just not enough art available for them on the internet and I don't think the games have quite enough fans on Colors to justify the effort of game caps!

The first is Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song, because I am practically married to SaGa. However, it's also not a popular series and has limited art available even once the Ultimania has been thoroughly pillaged. Furthermore, because of the game's lack of popularity, there's no source that I know of for the cutscenes, meaning that I would have to play through all eight storylines for those, and considering that it's at least 20 hours of play/storyline in a difficult game? That just feels like more effort than it's worth.

The second is a game I'm INEXPLICABLY nostalgic for even though I know that it was a game with problems - Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana. Being a sprite-based game on the PS2, I would be forced to rely almost completely on artwork. I haven't found a real 'source' of it, save for the Atelier Series Official Chronicle, which... well, people have only scanned the Atelier Rorona images. I actually own this book and I may one day scan in the images so that I may donate Klein and Lita decks, but right now I'm not doing that because don't I have Samurai Flamenco decks I should be donating?

Gosh I'd love more Sound Horizon decks, but only Roman got a manga adaptation, and like... one song from Elysion, too. Otherwise, I could probably donate a special deck using album art for some of the albums with large casts, like Moira or Halloween to Yoru no Monogatari, but otherwise.... as fabulous as Revo is, there's only images from the live concerts, which can't be used for decks, weh.

Otherwise, there's a lot of minor or one-shot video game/anime characters I'd like decks for, but not enough official images? The background successors in AKB0048 for one (Paruru, Yuihan, and Sasshi all have just barely enough images), and then characters like Shukure, from the Ar Tonelico 3 drama CDs! (her hymmnos singer sung the op songs for the alchemist of arland trilogy ahh)

I have made quite a few decks I was really missing happen, but I wish there was a way to make more Baten Kaitos character decks. There's no way any of the other Eternal Wings cast could get decks—Xelha had exactly 22 official images and is more or less the main character—but Sagi, who is pretty much the exclusive lead of Origins, only has 17 official images. Alas /)_(\

I'd sell my soul for some Dishonored decks, haha. Journey would also be lovely, though it'd have to be a special only, and I am sure people could find great satisfaction in Bioshock decks. I play a lot of games on Steam, which tends to lead to a lot of misc fantasizing.

... Also Magic: The Gathering. I don't care about the lore or the characters but damn is the art pretty. Going to take plant07~

There are so many video game decks I’d love to collect, but there’s either not enough official art - and if there just barely is, the quality is cry-worthy - or they’re from a western source. I think it would be cool to be able to collect manga-style adaptations of western sources, as well – for example, Soulless (book series by Gail Carriger) has an really good manga adaptation of the first three books.

This isn’t specifically a Colors what-if, but if a book TCG were possible, I’d be all over that (I know there’s a novel covers TCG, but a lot of my favourite books don’t have great covers, so I’ve never really been interested in joining it). Like, if you could collect cards featuring major quotes from a book/character/etc. or something like that… And if there's official cover art or concept art of characters there could be some image decks as well? ANYWAY I'm rambling, shut up Melissa

Oh goshhh I was just crying yesterday with Michelle that we can't have decks from Bioshock Infinite ;____; I'd totally collect Booker and Elizabeth ;__;

I also have a thing for old Naughty Dog games - the Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter series. I don't think those two need much introduction? I remember several Jak decks during my very short period at Nakama.

And finally there is western animation. Adventure Time is so awesome and it'd be perfect for collecting, but well, sob. And there is RWBY too! This series is very silly but also fun to watch.

Idk if I forgot something important. There are many western series that I'd love to see, but we're not allowing them for a reason. It's better when the TCG is focused on some range of works (in our case, animanga and East Asian video games) and is consistant with it.

Also there is one other huge reason. We'll never ever ever have to deal with bronies :>

I tried my best to put together a Tales of Innocence deck together but there just wasn't enough. Chien was also not included in the manga so I didn't even have that as a last resort. I did take screenshots of both versions of the game but there isn't really a super big expression change. I don't remember coming up with even twenty images for him.

Another character that simply doesn't have enough is Yumi from Suikoden III. I really wanted her to have a deck so that she could match with Yun and Yuiri, boom a group deck, and because she's cute.

Then, like, pretty much everyone in Alice Mare getting a deck. They look cute but I guess there were a few times where they had me at 'oh... okay.' But I'd definitely collect those and Allen wouldn't be hanging out by his lonesome. It's just another, oh, there's not enough.

There are others that I have in mind that I haven't tried to gather for, yet, but I need to belieeeeeeve, possibly.

I keep hoping and praying that someday the Azure Princess Mercenaries will have enough images for decks. Pia aaaaaaaalmost does, but the quality on a few of them is questionable to me, so... Poor Peria and Zohra though.

As for sources that aren't applicable, I would totally collect the Shinkengers. Or Code Lyoko decks! Code Lyoko would make fantastic decks, but it's French. (Each of the main characters, the more important side characters, some of XANA's monsters could get some of their own, a special deck featuring some of XANA's more memorable attack targets...)

Assuming I manage to complete this months PoG, I have a donation all prepared for an Alice Mare cast special deck! It's not exactly the same as the other characters getting their own decks, but it's going to happen.

There are a few games with too little material for character decks. These are Recettear: an Item Shop's tale and Time Hollow.

Well, you might be able to get decks for Tear and Recettear, since they're everywhere (main characters), but the side characters might be a problem. In Time Hollow we have a pretty similar problem. It's a visual novel with not enough sprites to work with.

I can't really make special decks for them easily either, since there are like 18-19 characters each that could be included 8(

Also for non eastern-games. League of Legends. Definitely. I would love to see at least special decks for those characters. But alas.

Oh man, Code Lyoko decks would be amazing... That show was pretty much my entire childhood. If we could ever get decks for that, I'd collect them in a hot minute.

I would sell a little piece of my soul for Psychonauts decks. It's such a good game and I want decks for Raz, Lili, MY LADY MILLA, Sasha, everyone.

I would also really, really love decks from RWBY! At least for Team RWBY and Team JNPR, plus Penny.

The other thing I want is a set of Puella Magi Kazumi Magica decks but it's so hard getting color expressions for them. As it stands I'm going to try to get together a special deck if I finish Pot of Gold this month, so they're at least represented. Pleiades Saints ;w;

As others have said, there are some characters I'd love to donate decks for who literally do not have 20 unique images of them out there, even if I do the capping myself. Examples of this are some major Fatal Frame ghosts and Dark Souls NPCs. I've thought about doing special decks, but I've already got a backlog of special decks I'd like to donate as it is (and no coupons). Generally, I try to sneak these characters into scrapbooks if I can...

I'd like to donate a deck for Lambda from ToGf but that would probably be too spoilery. There are a few decks I'd donate but hold back from for that reason.

As for non-Asian sources, I'm in an RP with teams and I try to collect at least one card of every teammate. Except some of my teammates can't qualify for Colors, which makes the collection look like it's got some pretty big holes in it. But oh well.

Oh man, I really wish we could collect RWBY decks. Really really wish. I'd also love to collect Red vs Blue decks even though, y'know, they don't take off their helmets and thus there is a very limited range of facial expressions... But man I would do a Freelancer mass deck in a heartbeat.

Oh man, live action is where it's at. Sometime they're pretty wonky, other times I just have to appreciate timeless scenes being acted out, but for all those movies, stage shows, and musicals out there- like Death Note, Persona 4, Prince of Tennis, Bleach- those would be really cool to collect. At the same time, there would be a huge huge influx of decks per actor and per character that I know it's not at all feasible. But one can still dream.

Most of the decks I'd love to collect but can't are mainly for side characters. Like, there are lots of Touhou characters I'd love to collect decks of but they don't have enough images. I actually tried putting together donations for Toyosatomimi no Miko and Byakuren but I'm reluctant to actually post them since most of the images are actually fighting game sprites.

After seeing there was a deck for Ness I would have liked to collect characters from Mother 2 as well but most don't have appearances outside of their own game. Oh well, at least there's a special deck for them!

I'll take glassheart03 for a choice card.

All of the characters that I would honestly love to see are side characters that barely show up in the series at all of hardly have any official art. I mean, I'd love to see a deck with Hokuto from the .hack//AI BUSTER novels or any of my other light novel characters...

I have one deck in particular I'd love to have, particularly Miya from Aikatsu!
But, as those who have seen the series know, her plainclothes identity is a spoiler for the end of season one, which means that it's pretty unlikely.... ;___; That also means I can't get my Hime/Miya OTP collection, my poor shipping soul!!

In terms of non-eligible media, I won't deny that I've considered how nice it'd be to collect pony characters. I'm not a huge MLP fan overall, but having a cute Fluttershy deck and maybe the Cutie Mark Crusaders would make me pretty happy. ♥ I'm also a little sad now that the Sailor Moon reboot is coming out, because I know I'd love a new updated deck for the Senshi with some of the pretty anime art... but they already have (gorgeous) decks, so no dice. ;_;

Other than that, most of the decks I want that aren't in Colors are of series that just haven't finished airing yet (Happiness Charge Precure...) or I just haven't gotten around to donating yet. (Various minor Aikatsu characters, Erika from Pokemon, etc.)
