Advent Calendar Day 22

Rejoice! The Advent is full of good tidings and generosity. Please leave your cards in Kirei's capable and trustworthy hands this holiday post. . .

. . . oh. That's not what I meant to say at all, was it? The theme of today is repaying kindness.* What are some characters who make sure to give as good as they got? A student who finally repaid his teacher for the lessons learned. Or an old friend who looked after a mentor's child, furthering their old mentor's spirit and wishes for the future.

In exchange for sharing about a character's overwhelming generosity you can take one choice card of a kind character (does not have to be the character you talk about!) and then also one choice card of a character from the same series. (Basically 2 choice cards from the same series but NOT the same character deck!)

Open until December 31st!

* - You don't have to meet Kirei's brand of kindness repayment, it can be actual honest kindness!

You said this and then my first thought was immediately Largo from Tales of the Abyss. PROBABLY THAT IS ME SHOWING MY BIAS BUT HEAR ME OUT.

Largo had his tragic backstory where his daughter was taken from him and he found that his wife threw herself into the habors. After a failed attempt to get his daughter back, he ended up wandering around without a purpose. That is, until Van found him. After Van took him in and explained the truth behind the Score and the Planet's Memory, explained how Largo lost his family because it was written into fate, Largo joins Van and puts his all into helping Van's vision become a reality. Largo shows a lot of loyalty to Van, partly because he believes in Van's goal and also partly because he believes in Van. There's one scene in the game where Largo defends one of Van's questionable actions to the protagonist party as Van's 'kindness'. A sometimes twisted and terrible kindness, yes, but Largo genuinely believes in that kindness. There's not a lot of material on Largo, but his loyalty to Van himself always struck me as being Largo's way of repaying the kindness Van showed him.

Probably not quite what you were looking for, but he was my first thought for those reasons! And I'd also say he pays it forward with the other God Generals as well, in his own ways. Many of the God Generals are displaced in some way, and Largo definitely shows his capacity for kindness towards Arietta and allowing her to give it her all in a fight to the death as a way to respect her, and even possibly Sync (...in the sense that Largo is the one person that Sync even seems to get along with and show genuine respect towards so I assume Largo must've done something right there).

I HAVE A LOT OF OPINIONS ON LARGO AND HIS VIEW OF KINDNESS AND ALSO HIS LOYALTY, THIS MIGHT BE OBVIOUS.

So I'm taking blacklion19 along with feral10.
