COLORS CHAT #1

again by the lovely Casey. ALSO THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO GO UP YESTERDAY I'M SORRY.

It's time to sit back, relax, and pour yourself and ice cold glass of... milk. All these games are so great and fun but everyone needs a chance to just unwind and talk. So welcome to Colors Chat!

Here, you will get a topic and you can talk about it all you want. For cards, however, your initial post will need to be six sentences. Just listen to your heart and write what you feel like. For your six sentences, you'll get 5 cards. And you should always go around and talk to people, see if you can make new friends or old friends with new light on them or you know, just talk with everyone! It is a chat after all.

Today's topic:

How are you feeling about the new and old colors games? Which ones are your new favorites? Do you think there's a game type that's missing?

Please keep all comments civil and polite. You might disagree with someone, but please do not start a flame war. THANK YOU and enjoy your Saturday Sunday!

I am definitely liking all these new and old games. They keep me interested and makes me want to stay in this TCG.

Some of my favorites from the new lots are Delete Shiritori and Crazy Colors. They're fun, simple and easy to play to get cards into my grubby paws. The fact that they're both posted weekly? I will start shedding happy tears now. Combo breaker is appealing to my repressed gambling side. That 128 card payout? Damnnn.

Some of the new games that I'm having slight trouble with is Help Miss Kamila and Kiss The Cook. With Miss Kamila, I didn't even bother with the first round just because Colors has 4829348547594 decks and I don't recognize it. Second round was posted with mercy because it still retained SOME of the deck name which makes trawling through the decks much easier.

There have been a lot of cross-talk about Acrostics and I can definitely see both sides of the arguments. I think if I hadn't completely relaxed my trading rules like now, I would probably not play that game at all due to the whole random trade requests aspect. Now, I accept any and all trades so I don't mind Acrostics. However, I do ditto the idea about having one specific place for players to spam for acrostic trades instead of the trading community. When I go to the trading community now, I only look for players that mention "acrostic trades" just so I don't annoy players that do NOT accept random trade requests. But if I'm really desperate, I'd just post a trade to a random player mentioning that it's only for the Acrostic game.

Some of the old games that I like are Reading Between The Lines and Coloring Book. Games like Shadow Watching and Neku's Music station were ... well, I just scroll right past them just because I've given up hope with them. They require a somewhat extensive anime knowledge which I won't have in the next millennium. Pokeradar is an awesome game, when I recognize the 'mon they put in there. Otherwise, I go to my corner and curl up into a fetal position.

One thing that worries me with Coloring Book is the mod's ability to keep up with it. At the start, it's constantly updated so that later players can check which deck has already been donated. But what happens three months down the road? Or five months? They might get burnt out and not update the donated decks. Then the later players will have to trawl through five pages of comments. I generally don't even bother with it if I have to trawl through more than two pages. So yeah, I'm hoping that won't happen and that this general increase in activity will be maintained.

Overall, I'm really glad Colors got re-energized and new games introduced because it was sorely needed. I remember the period when BotB ended and before the new games were introduced, nearly a week could go by with no activities posted.

I didn't mean to write this long but thanks for reading if you manage to make it here.

While I don't want to say I WILL BE TOTALLY COOL IN FIVE MONTHS DON'T WORRY because that...is a difficult kind of thing to anticipate, I can say that because of the way Coloring Book seems to go - there's a big burst of activity at the beginning and then it settles down into something much more sedate and steady over the rest of the week, after most people rush to get their two donations in and then can't do anything more until the round reset - I'll be making a point of posting it when I have time to babysit the tally through that initial rush precisely to avoid anyone having to look through five pages of comments! This does mean there may be times when I wind up posting on Sunday or Tuesday if Monday turns out to be bad (though if this is the case I should be able to give people a heads up the week previous so nobody's caught off-guard by it), but I'd much rather put it up when I know I'm able to deal with it than leave it and come back to chaos.

I did expect it would be high maintenance when I signed on for it, if that assuages worries at all! (I picked up Guess the Color as my second precisely because it's a much easier game to run and I can just put it up and forget it for a week, which I figured would be a very welcome balance for me.)
