How did you get into TCGs?

TCGs can be really addicting, but everyone, oldie or newbie, has to start somewhere! What's your origin story? Did you get dragged in by your friends or stumble in on your own? Feel free to be as wordy or concise as you like. There's no right or wrong answer here.

Colors is the first and only TCG I've ever played in, and it'll probably stay that way for a while unless I get dragged along to another one by a friend. I think some of my RP friends had been plurking about it, so I followed the link train to the website. I'm a huge fan of randomized rewards (grab bags, blind boxes, etc), so the thought of a card randomizer just spitting out pixel for me for free was really appealing. i actually had a few people trying to convince me not to join, but i'm glad i did! i was in my first semester of grad school at the time; at the time, the rote activity of downloading and logging cards was kind of soothing. and it seems like there are always more decks i want to collect.
