COLORS CHAT #15

It's time to sit back, relax, and pour yourself and ice cold glass of... milk. All these games are so great and fun but everyone needs a chance to just unwind and talk. So welcome to Colors Chat!

Here, you will get a topic and you can talk about it all you want. Just listen to your heart and write what you feel like. For your six sentences, you'll get 5 cards. And you should always go around and talk to people, see if you can make new friends or old friends with new light on them or you know, just talk with everyone! It is a chat after all.

Today's topic:
Things you are into that you know aren't very good but you like them anyway? What's it about them that keeps you entertained? Or do you not have any guilty pleasures like this and stay away from what you consider to be low quality?

To encourage disussions between players, there's a bonus - for every conversation that is at least 5 comments long
all participants will receive two random cards.
This is not limited, so talk to as many people as you wish!

Please keep all comments civil and polite. You might disagree with someone, but please do not start a flame war. THANK YOU and enjoy your weeks!

This round closes on Sunday, June 1st

Bad quality... um, honestly, a lot of Vocaloid songs. Like Two Faced Lovers by wowaka isn't that good (to be honest, she's so high pitched that it makes me wince), but it's one of my first songs that I've ever heard and it holds a special place in my heart. Imagination Forest (Suuzou Forest) by IA is also horrible, especially when listening to all of Jin's songs (and wow, he cannot tune Vocaloids), but I like it because it's the first (and only) song by him that I haven't listened to before finding a cover. (I'm so bad.) There are many Vocaloid songs that I love that are horrible...

To go on about anime... oh, god, there's Junjou Romantica. (Okay, the manga.) And Katekyo. Both are yaoi manga, and I love them, even if the anatomy is questionable. Junjou, home of the yaoi hands. I don't even know why I like them (ahahaha, what is this character development you speak of?) I also liked a lot of fanfics for various fandoms, and those are more of guilty pleasure than anything...

I think it would help if I watched anime more often. But does the infamous (sort of) KHR count?

Oh man I know what you mean about Vocaloid songs. One of my favorite Vocaloid songs (Muteki★Shojo:99) has pretty awful vocals. Kaai Yuki is really hard to work with... It's squeaky but just so cute... and little girl superheroes! Gratuitous english! What's not to love!?

I honestly think anything made by Kagome-P is awful, but I like a lot of his songs. But her voice is adorable, until the chorus (I think that was it.) What she was singing, I don't even know... not that I really understood the first verse. And Miku also falls into the same category with ryo (I like When First Love Ends, which is pretty shitty in terms of vocals) and anything Kikuo. But even though I can't stand her voice, I love Kikuo's songs, in general, and one or two of ryo's songs.

It's sad because if the vocals weren't awful I could probably legit enjoy that song without any sense of guilt because I'm super into things about little girls fighting crime. I'm so into magical girls for a reason. But... it's just so badly done in terms of vocals!! It goes so high-pitched! I could ignore the Engrish if it wasn't for those vocals!!
Yet I keep listening...

Ryo has the benefit of being good at composition even though their grasp on Miku is tenuous. They do Supercell too, don't they? They have a really good sound musically, so it's easier to let it slide. Kikuo isn't as obvious to me just because the sometimes "off" vocals seem to fit with the theme a lot of the time.

I think I could also enjoy the song without feeling horrible (actually, enjoy it in general) if the chorus wasn't so bad. But you're better than me. I just pressed that pretty "X" to close out of that tab as soon as the chorus started.

Ryo is in Supercell. I think all his songs are listed as being done under Supercell, but that's the producer in charge of Miku's vocals. I like the music for some songs, but when I heard Melt, I sort of went, "Okay..." (And then backed away from the rabid fandom; same thing for World is Mine.) It does work, but I don't like hearing something high pitched because it generally doesn't work, and the high-pitched vocals don't work for some of his songs. (I think maybe only I'm Sorry, I'm Sorry works for Miku being so high-pitched.)

haha high five on the yaoi manga comment! I think it's tougher not to feel guilty when we KNOW everything about the thing is questionable... I used to read worse things, granted, like okane ga nai! But yeah I completely get the feeling ;~;

I honestly haven't read Okane ga Nai (but looking at the summary and then the cover, I can see that becoming a guilty pleasure for me.) But majority of the shounen-ai/yaoi, especially yaoi, manga and anime are questionable at best. My biggest guilty pleasure.

I dropped it because I started reading things a tiny bit less questionable haha but yeah it can get quite addictive! I always tell my friends I'll get serious and drop yaoi once and for all, but I always go back... I feel like this will be with me for the rest of my life lmao

At least your friends somewhat encourage you to drop it. My friend throws me more and more questionable yaoi mangas and doujinshis. I've read so many questionable ones, that I almost want to go back to Junjou.

ahaha well some of them encourage me to drop it, others know I'm not serious and share titles with me! Lately I'm short on manga titles so I'm going for lots of doujinshi too, especially from recently aired series since groups pick doujinshis up so quickly.

The biggest doujinshi gold mines I've found are probably pretty much any popular sports series (especially prince of tennis, omg) I'm actually kinda glad I find it easy to get into those series because it means infinite boy x boy guilty pleasure!

The doujinshis are also questionable, which makes me sad because I thought I could find quality there. I mean, some aren't bad, but others are. Especially those that border/are shota-con.

Ahaha. Prince of Tennis has a lot of boys (hot boys), so there probably are many doujins that are wonderful~! (Which makes me glad my ships end up being everyone/everyone.)
